Create Vassal

When voluntarily creating a vassal nation based on national identity, the vassal nation is automatically at war with its parent. Shouldn't the vassal be grateful for its new-found independence? I would expect the new vassal instead to begin with a relation of +200 and be part of the same military alliance.

I haven't seen that. As Carligula says, newly created vassals start with +150 relations. Do you have any more details, or a save game?

I was playing as Denmark. I had annexed Novgorod, recovered my BB back to 'honourable' (this took about 15-20 years as expected), then decided to create a Russian vassal. I didn't want Russian events to go to waste, and it seemed like a good way to create more headaches for Poland/Lithuania . I've only created a vassal the one time, so I'll keep my eyes peeled for this in the future.
