How does this mechanic work when combined with humanist modifiers? I'm assuming they don't mix well with the +heathen/heretic modifiers.

So if my assumption is correct it seems that a good option for Hungary would be to go for decisions that will give a negative modifier to heretics: Pass Blasphemy Act, Pass Conventicle Act, Pass Test Act(non-catholic), and not worry about getting humanist and religious.

Possibly a good option would be to switch to a merchant republic for a way to get plutocratic for the unrest bonus. If aristocratic and plutocratic could be both taken then noble instead.

I think you can test this in-game. Get that national idea and check the individual provinces - if the idea does what it should wrong religion provinces should have no unrest risk due to intolerance.

You're probably right that it doesn't benefit 100% from mixing with Humanist ideas.

It shines the most when you stack tons of -tolerance decisions that give you some kind of benefit, because it makes those decisions functionally have no drawback. -4 heretic and heathen tolerance while converting conquered land? NOPE.

Religious is probably a better fit with that idea than humanist, but only if you're taking out heretic/heathen lands...though Hungary has a fair few options in terms of that.

Let's not forget this NI doesn't stop your religious unity from dropping ( if they didn't change it ).
Which make it useless. else you do convert everything because you can't allow your religious unity to be low else you go humanist.

Thanks for the advice, I'll try to find a start date I can test it on. I don't think there'll be on though so that means a long, boring test game.

I'm not worried about religious unity as that is just a number. It increases revolt risk by 2 if it is tanked, which isn't a big deal. The stability is a problem, but in its own way it won't matter either. I'm just trying to find a niche for Hungary to make it interesting and I'm thinking getting a republic mite do the trick. I still am unsure if aristocratic and plutocratic are both allowed.

I think you can use the console for a quicker test.

Good idea, I forgot all about the cheats as I don't use them. I tried it and it doesn't stack with humanist at all. Thanks again.

Testing out mechanics is easily the most useful aspect of the console. If you're not sure how something will work in ironman, save and create a junk game and console to test how it interacts.
