If you think 100k light tanks are a crazy plan. Why not steep it up a bit by changing out light tanks for medium tanks and increase the target number by 50k.
Sherman is the choice here, not so much due to its name or picture but due to being a 1941 or 1943 medium tank to maybe the only nation who tend to have the factories and resources to make this possible.
USA start with atleast 150 civilian and military factories. To build 150k tanks in around 3 years you need about 150 factories each building about one tank each day and we know USA have 150 factories already at the start of the game.
At around 1942 it is possible that a player could have increase the number of factories by atleast 50% if not even more. So around 1942 you can probably have 150 military factories. And by that time you can have the medium tank 1941 researched.
So the only thing left is to put these 150 military factories to work and produce medium tanks and you will quickly see a huge rise in the number of medium tanks in your stockpile. This is not necessarily a strategy that will win you the war however
