Crashing on "Adapting History"

Hello,

I'm trying to start a new game in Europa Universalis 3 playing with the Heaven & Earth mod (I tried to post in the user mods forums, but I apparently don't have the privileges.) and it keeps CTDing on "Adapting History" whenever I try to start a new game, regardless of the country. I already have on-going games that I was able to start before, but now I apparently can't.

Anything I can try?

EDIT: after testing it, turns out it does it for Vanilla and all other mods too. Hmm...

EDIT2: After re-installing the game, it now unfortunately crashes when I start the game. It gets to "Loading Database" and then I get a CTD.

Well, that unfortunately made things worse.

The game now crashes during "loading databases" when starting up the game.

I didn't even realize there was a Tech Support forum. I can't access it though, due to the fact that my EUIII uses an old CD Key and can't be registered on the forums. I'm in the process of getting a "newer" one through the support system. Once I do that, I'll post there. Thank you.
