Crashing as soon as I launch the game?

Whenever I start the game all I get is a black screen and after a few seconds eu4.exe has stopped working, only fix i found for this was going into the settings folder and changing fullscreen to off but that causes parts of the game to be cut off and I cant adjust the size of the window, anyone know a fix, all help appreciated. Also Ck2 Eu3 Victoria 2 all work perfectly

Ah sorry about that I for some reason went to my ck 2 settings, but my res is set to the rest setting in the file, still not fixed

I got the same, the demo was running fine the first time (fullscreen) but when I quit and restarted, it would get stuck in black screen, and only setting the mode to windowed, allows it to run. (cannot post any dxdiag or settings as I'm at work)

Gummi, I found the fix for me atleast, in your settings file you will see something that says refreshrate above fullscreen=yes if it is at 0 change it to the refresh rate of your monitor

Can you please run dxdiag and post the first part of the log. Also post the system.logs

Thanks for this information! I have improved the code dealing refresh rates that hopefully should fix these kind of issues, will be included in the first patch.

Just a note; this didn't work for me, so might not work perfectly for all others as well. I had to turn fullscreen mode off (refreshRate being 0 or otherwise didn't matter) for it to work.

Hello, I'm on mac (steam) and the game crashes every time I launch it. It worked just fine the first time I played though.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game and deleting the settings.txt file or just modifying it (fullscreen or not, refreshRate...) to no avail.

Does anyone have an idea where the problem might be ?
