Crashing after renouncing Iconoclasm while playing Ironman.

I'm playing as the Byzantine Empire, and the problem starts at the date 794. I've tried several times to reload a save, but I keep crashing, thus preventing me from progressing any further. Any help I could get would be greatly appreciated. :happy::happy:

I was able to play that game on my iMac for 2 years with no crashes. It seems likely you have a bad installation or a Windows problem (I'm assuming you're on Windows, on statistical grounds - if you're on Linux there's a different issue).

Please try a full clean re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "delete local content" in Steam-CK2
- manually delete all files and folders left under Steam/CK2 AND Documents/Paradox/CK2
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.

IF that doesn't help, Please post a dxdiag.txt (you can delete everything after the end of the "Sound devices" section for brevity) and your Documents/CK2/settings.txt. From your Documents/Paradox/CK2/logs/ directory, post system.log . Open setup.log in notepad and search for 'checksum', post that line only here too please.

Just to be sure, did you Renounce Iconoclasm? Because as long as I don't do that, I don't crash.

Okay, so I uninstalled and deleted all the files, re-installed, and I'm still having the same problem as soon as I renounce Iconoclasm. I'm getting a little frustrated now.

I'm sorry, but I did not understand that the save you supplied required me to take some actions before triggering the crash. More usually saves posted here come crash-ready!

But other people report other bugs with the event, meaning for them it does not crash. In fact that last thread describes a way of avoiding the crash, which might be why - no rivals means no crash, it seems.

In any case I'll report it as a bug now, and attach your save. Thank you.
