Hi,

I have very serious stability and graphics issues with CIM2, in fact I'm not able to play the game at all:
- I started the campaign, Tutorial was working fine, but on Scenario 1 I cannot play any longer that 15 minutes till a complete crash of the game occurs. Then the game freezes completely, switching back to the Desktop I see the Windows proccess crash message box. Sometimes the error "too many heap sections" also appears.
- I also had "Out of memory" error message when I tried to Save the game, figured out that the CIM2 process used over 1,6 GB of RAM. Directly after starting Scenario 1 and only 1 bus route built. Pretty much, isn't it?
- There are various huge graphics issues:
- Sometimes it looks right, a few minutes later (especially after zooming/rotating view a few times) it could completely break, so that grey areas are displayed instead of buildings (zooming/rotating could help so that the buildings re-appear in some angles)
- It occurs very often, that the buildings menu (bus stop, bus depot, etc.) is shown empty, only on mouse over I see the text (what kind of building it is), but without images
- Sometimes the water is red, only restart of the game helps, but another time it can occur again. Then, many other drawing issues occur, especially on zoom/rotate, e.g. "broken" bridges (drawn completely corrupted), multiple route indicator lines on the same street for a single bus route (over 10 lines side by side), sometimes the route indicator lines are even not displayed at all, altough they are activated
- Unfortunately I cannot take screen shots. F8 only produces empty (0 bytes) PNGs

My configuration:
Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz
4GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 4850 (latest drivers)
Windows 7 32bit

A little outmoded, but should match system requirements. Never had problems with CIM1.
Tried different graphics settings and resolution, but that doesn't help.

So, my CIM2 experience is very disappointing so far :(

What's the matter?
Do you have problems with ATI graphics chips?

Best Regards
Andreas

I'm also having problems with crashes, mainly when I'm building a metro system. I occasionally get the message saying "Out of Memory" too. Also, sometimes when I press the Enlarge Map button, the window appears with lots of jumbled up logos (eg: the Facebook and twitter logos from the main menu). Also, the reputation meter is duplicated inside the widow and there is a cartoon picture of a bus, along with lots of letters in different languages. This can only be fixed by restarting. And, (this just happened once), when I started the campaign, most of the water was replaced by concrete, and most of the land was water, but the buildings and roads were still there. What has happened with this?

Hi,

@3mFeldweg: I thought that the system (and not the game process itself) needs at least 3 GB of RAM. Your comment would imply that in fact a 64-bit system is required to play CIM2!?

Kind Regards
Andreas

I read it on a german fan forum and can't translate it so good. I heard that all Win7 64 Bit Users with 4GB of RAM don't have this crash only 32-bit systems. I have 32-bit too and i have to restart at least 5 times in one hour. http://www.citiesinmotion2.com/about ... At this site you can read the system requirements. But 32-bit systems support only maximum of 3 GB of RAM. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3_GB_barrier

Right, I know. AFAIK there is also a limitation of 2GB RAM per process.
@CO: What can you say about that? Have you ever tested the game on x86? Can the graphical issues also be a result of too less memory? Or might the game have memory leaks?

Best Regards
Andreas
