Crashes when saving

Hello,

I have run into a problem with my medieval mod. When I save (or autosave), the game crashes. I would appreciate if an experienced modder could give me some advice, since this whole thing really freaks me out.
There are a few things I think you should know:
- Saving works fine with other mods
- When saving, the game creates a file that seems okay in the mod save games folder
- This save file can be loaded without any problem (but the game still crashes when I save again). The file must be corrupt somehow, though, since the countries lack governments, state religion and the wrong flag is displayed beside the save game in the loading screen
- I currently use replace = "history" in the MOD file, but I still get the same crash if I use extend and rename the original folders
- There are no other problems with my mod atm

Have you looked through the save game file? It might help narrowing down the problem. I think it could be an {} error. If you have a { or a } to much or too little in one of your files, that doesn't stop loading, it might transplant the problem to your savegame. This is only a guess though, since I've never experienced the problem myself.

I have, but I don't know what to look for. Instead, I've been looking into the log files, where I found some weird errors that seemed to have absolutely no connection with the crash at all. I still tried to fix them, just in case. The log claims that the game can't find certain graphics and sound files and that some country colours are incorrect. The graphics files were easily added, but the rest just refused to work properly. The thing is, I don't even think these files matter, since they aren't included in my original directory (which works perfectly).

The logfiles always say stuff about missing graphics and sounds, I recall it was a known issue a while ago but understandably low-priority.

Try setup.log as well and make sure the game is loading all your files properly.

How many savegame files do you have in your saves folder? I sometimes found the game would crash while saving consistantly, but just deleting all but the ones I really needed was enough to fix it.

Otherwise, I have absolutely no idea what's going on. The only thing I can suggest is a complete reinstall from scratch.
