Hello, I just purchased Tyranny on Steam and it crashes immediately whenever I attempt to start it. I see the icon in the dock for a split second and that's it. No player.log was created. Pillars of Eternity loads just fine.

I have included the crash data from the console. Not sure what to do. I was really excited to play :(

Try doing a Steam verify operation, to make sure the game has installed correctly.

If that doesn't help, please attach this log file here:
~/Library/Logs/Unity/Player.log

To find that file, in Finder do cmd-shift-G to bring up the GOTO box. In there paste ~/Library/ . You will see a /Logs/ folder, and inside that /Unity/ folder. Please attach that file player.log here by dropping it on this support ticket, or use the "Attach file" link here.

Also in Steam please click on Steam-Help-System Info, and paste everything there into here.

Hello @eisenkanzler,

I am sorry this is happening to you, thank you for the detailed info and log. I can pass this on to our programming staff to see if they can determine what may be going wrong.

In the meantime, have you checked to see if there are newer graphic's drivers for you to be using? We are using a newer version of Unity than Pillars of Eternity used, so some users have had incompatibility issues when using older drivers.

Thank you for support,
David

Hi, I'm up to date with the latest OS for mac, which I believe is how the latest drivers are available. I did discover something odd last night. The game will launch successfully if I have 1 or 0 external monitors. When I had both monitors hooked up (which is my standard setup), that's when it was failing.

Thank you @eisenkanzler, I will pass along that info as well.

This sounds like it may be an issue with Unity, have you tried using the launch options while both external monitors are enabled?

This thread discusses how to use those for selecting which monitor to play on:
https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/tyranny-known-issues.981245/

Can’t select which monitor to play on if using multiple monitors
This is unfortunately a known issue with the version of Unity that the game uses. Below is how you can access the setting with games that use this version of Unity.

If you hold down SHIFT while double-clicking on the executable, it will bring up the Unity configuration window. The third option allows you to select which display the game appears on.

index.php

I'm not certain if the key combination to access this is the same on Mac as it is on Windows, and it may not resolve the issue, but seemed worth a look while we're waiting to hear back from the programmers.

Thank you for your support and patience,
David

Unlike nVidia, AMD do not offer separate driver updates for macs, just the ones that come in MacOS updates.

Hello @eisenkanzler,

Unfortunately this appears to be a bug in Unity that we won't be able to address. We did do some digging around, and found that other games with this issue have had users reporting that the issue goes away when they disable the steam overlay.

To disable the steam overlay for just Tyranny:
  1. Go to the 'Library' in steam
  2. Right click on 'Tyranny' in the library, then click 'Properties'
  3. In the 'General' tab, uncheck the box next to "Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game'
Then launch the game. Hopefully that work around will stop the game from crashing while all 3 screens are connected.

I am sorry we don't have a better solution to offer at this time.

Thank you,
David
