When you encounter a crash, an error or an unexpected event which appears to be breaking the game. Please always attach your log file along side your issue description.
You can use http://pastebin.com for example and paste the link since the forum does not accept that long text to my knowledge.
* On Windows, the log file is found in the Steam game install folder under Cities_Data/output_log.txt (to open the game install folder, right click your game in the Steam library, select Properties, go to the Local Files tab and select Browse local files)
* On Linux, the log is found at ~/.config/unity3d/Colossal Order/Cities: Skylines/Player.log
* On OSX, the log is found at ~/Library/Logs/Unity/Player.log

I've installed the game 3 times in the past two days, every time I load the game and press "Content Manager" or "Load Game" it immediately crashes. Please help, I'm really close to just not playing it and I have 580 hours into this game.

I agree with KnightHawkTFC. I think you have Extra Landscaping Tools and Tree Brush installed, I would remove Tree Brush since it is redundant and this could be the cause of conflict.

Also, I am not sure American Roads is compatible with Network Extensions. I never could get the two of them to work together.

Either renamed them all correctly... or just delete them all and subscribe to the workshop versions, which I especially would recommend else you're gonna have to manually check for updates every time you play. Also make sure you don't both have a local version and a workshop version both enabled at the same time. Verify that with -disableMods your game actually starts to the main menu so you know it's actually mod related, and not just asset limit issues.

OK, I've given your log another look.

First, since you own the game, I suggest you use Steam for applying mods instead of using the game's Addons folder in your computer. It ensures that your subscribed mods are always up do date, as Steam does this automatically. That is what I do, although I keep a lot of assets (not mods) in the Addons folder, because I have chosen to edit them myself.

Second, you have these mods that essentialy do the same thing, and I am willing to bet they are not compatible with each other:

All Spaces Unlockable
All 25 Areas Purchasable
Open All Tiles
Unlock Free Area

I strongly reccomend you get rid of these and use BloodyPenguin's 81 tiles mod. One of the reasons is that is compatible with the Building Themes mod. You can find it here:

Third, I believe these mods are not compatible with Network Extensions:

I looked again and I think these could help:

First, remove these two:

Multi-Track Station Enabler 1.2.0
One-Way Train Track [DEPRECATED]

And use this one:

Extra Train Station Tracks ( ETST )

Second, I really believe this is obsolete:

Third, these two are not compatible with each other:

All Spaces Unlockable
All Spaces Unlockable - With Right Price

I reccomend not using these, but BloodyPenguin's 81 Tiles mod. Again, because it is the one that has always worked for me, causing no compatibility issues.

Fourth, instead of these:

Tree Brush
Terraform tool 0.9

Use this:

Extra Landscaping Tools (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=502750307)

Fifth, Road Color Changer is outdated, and I am not sure if it is compatible with Network Extensions. I would remove it.

Sixth, the Proper Hardness mod is outdated, as far as I know. I use the Fire Spreads mod myself, with custom values in it's config file.

You are missing prerequisites or files related to the NExt mod.
I notice you have t++v2 and TMPE and also TM_IAI - I hope you aren't trying to enable all 3 at the same time.
EuroBuildingsUnlocker is not compatible with NExt ..per the compatibility page anyway.
Proper Harness version available on steam is ...mad outdated, even if you use the non-steam available patch version for 1.4 I made you shouldn't have he original installed. Just stop using it (I'm not supporting that going forward anyway).

Ditto what someone else mentioned about not having 4 or 5 different area\grid management mods in use, if you're gonna use 81.. then just use that; else just select one of other 4.

While the suggestion to use extra landscaping over TB 0.9 is fine...TB 0.9 still works fine.

All of the above said, the fact that it's crashing before the main menu and not while trying to load a save, suggests more that you've hit your asset limit.

The question there is with only -disableMods ...does it load to main menu... if it does then you know it's a mod.
If not, and adding -noWorkshop then allows it to load to the main menu, chances are it's asset\asset count related; also seperately try forcing dx9 since you're on win10.

To force DX9, open the game's properties on Steam and insert the following Launch Option: -force-d3d9 then run the game. See if it helps.

Also, as far as I know, the asset limit varies according to the specifications of your computer. You seem to use a lot of assets, but the fact that the game runs when you disable mods may mean you haven't reached your asset limit yet.

You can try to disable some large (in MB) assets and try to run the game, to test if you have reached the limit.

Edit: I almost forgot - have you tried unsubscribing American Roads?
Edit (again): European Buildings Unlocker has reported incompatibilities with Network Extensions (see the Network Extensions mod Steam page, look for Known Issues).

The weird thing is that I forced dx9 and I got in the main menu, only to crash to the desktop when I clicked something...
So I got a bit further, but it's still crashing.
Anything else I can try?

My mistake about American Roads, wrong output file. :) I took another look. Here:

The "[ARIS] Remove Stuck Vehicles" mod is outdated, use "Remove Stuck Vehicles [Fixed for v1.4+]" instead - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=587530437 which requires the following mod "Skylines Overwatch [Fixed for v1.3+]" - http://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=583538182. On the Overwatch page, there are (unanswered) questions about it's compatibility. Personally, and for what it's worth, I find that Traffic Manager: President Edition handles this issue just fine and, in case of a really unsolvable gridlock it has a Clear Traffic button - which is extreme, but helpful.

Also, remember to verify the integrity of the game cache - in Local Files under the game's Steam Properties.

I hope it works now, I'm running out of ideas! :)

Looks like it did solve that error as your log is now clean of obvious errors.

Try what JPCosta has mentioned.

When you say 'click anything', do you mean literally anything, or loading any game?
I'm about out of ideas for you as well, but I would actually unsub NExt as a test, exit game and reenter and see if there is any difference (if simply clicking anything would previously crash it), as that mod does add lots of 'silent' (not logged in log file) assets and maybe that's putting you over your system's limit. The behavior your seeing is most commonly one 4 things, driver issues, over personal asset\resource limit, missing or corrupt game or mod\asset files, two or more incompatible mods enabled.

There is always the write them all down (or save one of the logs), unsubscribe all mods, and then slowly add them back in small batches starting with the most basic working up towards the most complex (NExt\TM:pE), and exclude adding any you can do without in the short term.

Things I noticed -
You have 2 auto-emptying mods... pick one, remove\unsubscribe the other.
You using the NExt (network extentions mod), you are also using european building unlocker (or at least have it installed). The NExt page says there are incompatibilities with euro-building unlocker.

If I'm counting right.. have about 800 assets + NExt - might be too much for your system -all depends.

What is the error in the main menu? (or do you mean it just crashes at the main menu?)
The attached picture looks to be of a loaded..or partially loaded save file
If you disable mods with the -disableMods launch option (set in the games properties inside steam), does the game otherwise load and start a fresh map ok?

Interesting. Crashed after unlocking a new area, was it right after that (seconds)? or did it crash some later..(minutes) after that?.
Crash happened in graphics shader related call, and triggered by the routine for the senior citizens mod to just update some info panel
data - SeniorCitizenCenterMod.PanelHelper:handleBuildingInfoPanel()
Could be related, could also just be happenstance that it died there.

My mistake about American Roads, wrong output file. :) I took another look. Here:

The "[ARIS] Remove Stuck Vehicles" mod is outdated, use "Remove Stuck Vehicles [Fixed for v1.4+]" instead - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=587530437 which requires the following mod "Skylines Overwatch [Fixed for v1.3+]" - http://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=583538182. On the Overwatch page, there are (unanswered) questions about it's compatibility. Personally, and for what it's worth, I find that Traffic Manager: President Edition handles this issue just fine and, in case of a really unsolvable gridlock it has a Clear Traffic button - which is extreme, but helpful.

Also, remember to verify the integrity of the game cache - in Local Files under the game's Steam Properties.

I hope it works now, I'm running out of ideas! :)

Looks like it did solve that error as your log is now clean of obvious errors.

Try what JPCosta has mentioned.

When you say 'click anything', do you mean literally anything, or loading any game?
I'm about out of ideas for you as well, but I would actually unsub NExt as a test, exit game and reenter and see if there is any difference (if simply clicking anything would previously crash it), as that mod does add lots of 'silent' (not logged in log file) assets and maybe that's putting you over your system's limit. The behavior your seeing is most commonly one 4 things, driver issues, over personal asset\resource limit, missing or corrupt game or mod\asset files, two or more incompatible mods enabled.

There is always the write them all down (or save one of the logs), unsubscribe all mods, and then slowly add them back in small batches starting with the most basic working up towards the most complex (NExt\TM:pE), and exclude adding any you can do without in the short term.

Ok, I've removed, changed, verified (again) and all that, with different results.
With click anything, I literally mean anywhere on the screen.
When I tried it just now, it only happened when I click 'content manager'.
I previously deleted all my saves, so can't really try that.
But when I clicked 'start new game', it simply worked and did not crash.

It only will load the main menu when I leave the force dx9 on, without it the game will crash instantly.
Unsubscribing from NExt did not change the result.
My driver is up to date, I really only can think of missing/corrupt files or incompatible mods, but I think we've checked them all by now?
I also deleted a few assets yesterday, to lower the count.

Maybe I should try unsubscribing from all and working my way up by adding everything one by one, although that's not my most favourite solution :(
But I appreciate the help you've both given me so far!

Just installed snowfall, and game crashed.
Crash occurred during residential buildings spawn.
Played on vanilla, default map, no mods or whatsoever.

It depends on the mods, some don't effect you map much by just turning them off, others...once you use them on save you have to keep using them on that save. You have to try to remember what you used with what save (more so mods than assets - but sometimes they're intertwined). So for instance if you say have a save that uses the multitrain track asset + required mod that enables it... and you load it up without one or the other enabled you might have problems..that's just an example (I've never gotten around to using that specific one). On the other hand disabling the sound tuning mod, shouldn't break things, nor should IPT from what I recall...transport will just go back to the defaults as I recall.

There is no easy way to clean a map of things like that, sometimes the mod "Save Our Saves" will help clean up what it can, but it can't fix everything.
