I have done a clean install of my drivers for my GTX 1080, no improvement but I can live with it. I love the game to much. 2,500 hours played

I have about the same hours playing as well!

I have found recently, that removing that G-Force Experience software really makes a difference in performance for the better. There's none of that overhead as the program runs in the background and sets up network and video streaming garbage even if you have it off.

The only thing is you'll have to manually install drivers, and be careful not to install the GFE again by mistake.

I'll have to try that, you dont happen to have a link to the correct drivers do you?

Go to www.nvidia.com

Choose region (country). North America for US & Canada.

Then instead of clicking on the top automatic updating using GForce Experience (click here to download button),

Go to this section here:

Manual Driver Search

Under the Manual Driver Search:

Put in your video card type - it defaults to the 10 series so scroll that to choose the right model that you have. I have to choose the 700 series and then the GTX 780Ti.

Your Windows Version: Windows 10 64 bit or whatever that is.

Click start search.

You then see the latest WHQL driver which is available for download.

The current driver is: 378.66 and is dated Feb 14, 2017

Click on that to download the latest driver.

The installation will be manual so once the driver is downloaded, you need to double-click on the self-extracting archive and follow the on-screen prompts.

I'm using Geforce Experience and love it's recording capabilities :) It's buggy as hell but hasn't really caused any performance issues for me.

So you can see huge performance loss when recording?

I hope CO will use Source Engine 2, because it has the capacity to create a fully detailed scale of 1/6 of the solar system per map.

This sounds cool, but what does that have to do with city building as that seems to be out of the scope of the product they created and are selling.

If this was a space simulator, or world simulator for that matter, it might be something to consider.

It is a very poerful, if not the most power game engine on the plant. Why use the crappy Unity when they could easily have used an engine the is more flexible, universal, and faster. Now I have no idea where the hell you got "space simulator" from Source Engine 2, but okey...

The choice of a game engine, or programming environment is done for many reasons including licensing cost not only just for developing the product, but later on which include very high royalty payments back to the software development tools, or in this case, the game engine. Some cases, the program developer will forgo the off-the-shelf tools and create one of their own. There are some additional costs involved in this, and not just monetary ones such as a proprietary and locked product which will be difficult to update later on and end up getting stuck where it is, as well as, the training and bringing up to speed new software developers who don't know the proprietary product.
