John Hawkwood, entered the halls the Pope in Rome. He had been in Italia for years, and he had been to Rome before as well, but now after having been assign by the King to act as envoy to Italia, and Rome in particular his life has gotten more into routines and less warfare and mercenary operations like in the old days, though his band of men was till read to work should they be needed.
After walking around for a while he approaches the fist important looking man he meets and speaks

“Good day sir. I am John Hawkwood, and I have arrived here to report in as envoy from His Majesty King Richard II of England to His Holiness. His Majesty sends his best wishes to His Holiness, and His Majesty wonders how he might aid His Holiness in the struggle against the devil of Avignon?”

Carlo Durante, the Marquis Durante, stopped, after being approached by the Englishman.

Signore Harkwood, I am the Marquis Durante, and I was just on my way to the Papal Throne, to council His Holiness on this subject. Please, follow me.

The Marquis led the Englaishman through the winding halls of the Castel Sant'Angelo, until they arrived at the Papal Throne, where they were announced,

Your Holiness, Lord Carlo Durante, the Marquis Durante, and John Harkwood, Emissary from England.

Sir John Hawkwood is pleased when the man seems to know what he is doing, adn therefore Sir John follows after the man.
When they are admitted in before the Pope Sir John walks forward, bows and kisses the ring of His Holiness!”

“Your Holiness, I am honoured to meet you. My name is Sir John Hawkwood, and I am, here in Rome representing His Majesty King Richard II of England and France. His Majesty is a close follower of Your Holiness, and His Majesty would very much like to know His Majesty might aid Your Holiness closer in the struggle against the donkey lover of Avignon and his evil apprentice mad Charles, the man that claims His Majesty’s rightful throne in France.
Also I understand that the evil in Scotland has also been excommunicated by Your Holiness, and I am sure England would be willing to aid Your Holiness in the struggle against Scotland as well should it be necessary Your Holiness…

As Your Holiness understands England, His Majesty and His Majesty’s government is at Your Holiness’s side in this struggle, and I am sure England would be honoured to be able to aid Your Holiness against the devils that follow the evil of Avignon!”

The aging Pontiff looked down at the young man and his enthusiasm. Urban liked that, and he liked that the English were so willing to end this schism and defeat the Antichrist. Urban looked towards the sky, and then back to the English Knight.

My Son of Great Faith, the people of these lands have strayed. It is the job of every able-bodied Christian to bring them back into union with the Body of the Church. My Son, go, tell your King what I have spoken.

The Pontiff allowed for a Kiss of the Ring, and he was escorted to his room, a place where he had been spending more time, as of late. A place, he was trapped in...

Mátyás Ujlaky once again entered the Curia. He hoped the officials would be more receptive this time as the last time he had not even been able to present the gifts he was giving. Still, he hoped he would have more success this time, especially when considering the relative importance of those he represented. When asking the papal secretary for an audience with the Holy Father he presented himself as Mátyás Ujlaky, Bishop of Gyõr, emissary of Her Majesty the Queen of Hungary.

The Papal Assistant looked up at the Hungarian Bishop. He stood and directed him to the Papal Throne, where he was announced by the herald,

A letter arrives, a week after the fall of the Siena Republic, to Rome...

Unto His Holiness Urban VI,
Unverisal Father of the True Church

Your Holiness,
I have all my life endeavored to serve God, and therefore in my piety have delivered unto you and the Church, and all Christiandom the County of Siena, once an unholy Republic, ruled not by the means God has meant through the feudal way, but through the error and corruptness of the people. I have brought the Republic under the control of the proper system, and now I deliver it unto you, most Holy Father, to be recognized as Count under the feudal sovereignty of none other than yourself. I place my sword to fight for only you, your Holiness.

I am your most faithful of servants, your Holiness, and I have no wanting other than to bring the true glory to the Universal Church of Rome. While Siena has been liberated from it's evil and corrupt Republican ways, there are many states bordering both your sovereign Papal lands and the County of Siena. I believe that these unlawful lands truly belong in the rightful possession of vassaldom under the Church of Rome, and restored to proper feudalism. I profess, your Holiness, that if you would in your wisdom name me Overlord of Tuscany, that I might endeavour, in the name of Rome to remove the filth of Republic control across all Tuscany and restore it to feudal rule, and then, under the vassaldom of the Holy and one true church.
The perversion of the corrupt rule of the people these states represent is an affront and offense to your Holy and Divine guidance in Italy, and I would be no prouder than to name myself your servant, and to restore these lands to the hedgemony of yourself, the Holy Father.

I ask for your wisdom in all matters,

~ Count Gerardindo da Lucari of Siena

Urban read the letter from the new Count of Siena with some shock and bemusment. The new Count, self-declared ruler of Siena has submitted his domain to Papal Authority. Interesting, indeed interesting. The weak Pontiff, lying in his bed, coughed violently until he was able to drink a glass of water. Some disease was in the air, and the aging Pope, many times removed from his youthful abilities to fight-off these heathen illnesses, was in his bedroom more and more. He called in his personal Scribe and began to take down a letter. Once finished, it was sealed with the Papal Arms and sent to the new Feudal Court of Siena.

A horseman hastily returns to Rome after the letter from his Holiness was recieved in Siena...

Unto His Holiness Urban VI,
Unverisal Father of the True Church

Your Holiness,
Indeed it is true that you are most kind and generous, for it is we who strive in Siena to be your Church's right arm, and I am thankful for what you will bestow upon me. Your most Christian generosity brings me great joy, and is an affirmation to me of my life's true mission; As a son of the Church and your most divine hedgemony over man, I will ensure that I shall strive to do everything in my powers under God to serve the interests of the true Universal Church and your Holiness, for I believe only through cooperation may I with my resources and the Papacy work together to bring the wretchid republics bordering our lands under the hedgemoney of my realm, to serve you, and to be placed fully under the vassaldom of your true Church. I am most honored that I shall be able to meet you, your Holiness.

I shall of course arrange a great welcoming, for I am sure in Siena the people will rejoice at the coming of your Holy eminence, and I would hope that you may use your wisdom and divine guidance to show me, in person, the true path to unite the lands under the Church, and God. For that is what I truly believe is what God intended for the Church in Italy, for as they said, the righteous shall inherit the Earth.

I most eagerly await your coming and wisdom in all matters,

Upon being admitted to see the Pope, Mátyás Ujlaky knelt and kissed the Holy Fathers ring.

"It is a great honor to be let into Your presence Your Holiness. I come representing the crown of Hungary, which as allways is vigilant against the threat of the ottoman turk. They pray they will be granted the strength to end this threat to Christianity once and for all."

"Outside a group of former mohammedans, converted during the reign of late King Lajos, brings a donation from the hungarian crown to Your Holiness. They just need instructions as to where to place the donation, they would never dream of bringing such base material items into Your Holiness's presence uninvited."

"The donation consists mainly of valuable items captured from the heathen lithuanians during the last crusade against them, a crusade in which Hungary did participate. Items that could not possibly be in any better hands than the Holy Mother Church."

The Bishop bowed deeply and nervously awaited the Holy Fathers reply.

The German pilgrims who entered Rome in January of 1384 were far from a rare sight in Rome, and thus they were hardly taken note of when they travelled to the Curia. That's why noone really noticed how they brought the thing that differed these pilgrims from normal pilgrims to the Curia and delivered the letter to its reciever. Thus was their mission complete, and they continued their pilgrimage. Letter was, of course, written in latin.

Anno Domini 1383

Unto His Holiness Papa Urbanus Sextus, Universal Father of the True Church, Pontifex Maximus, Servus Servorum Dei, Bishop of Rome, Holy Father, Vicar of Jesus Christ, Successor of the Chief of the Apostles, Patriarch of the West, Primate of Italy, Archbishop and Metropolitan of the Roman Province & Vicar of the Son of God et cetera, et cetera.

Gloria in altissimis Deo et in terra pax hominibus bonae voluntatis!

Holy Father, let me thank thee and tell you that I too as my predecessors am very grateful for what you and your predecessors have done for Sweden in recent times. The independence of the primate of Sweden issued by The Blessed Gregorius X being the perhaps most important one. I believe all these things are signs, your holiness, that something big will happen in Sweden in the near future. The symbolism from our Lord is sometimes easy to decipher, since the birth of Christ and the star of Betlehem God has used such symbolism to warn or inform us about his will. In fact, the night when I was appointed archbishop I and many people with me saw the stars shine brighter than usual which I do not think can be misinterpreted. God has something large in mind for Sweden in the future, and I as his loyal servant must help him in what he's doing.

Holy Father, I'm sad to inform you that the primate in Sweden was misruled during the years of Birger Gregersson, a name that doesn't deserve being latinized into Benedictus Gregorius for his misdeeds and deciet against God. For fifteen years the devil has been allowed to be active in the houses of God in Sweden, whispering unholy things in the ears of the priests and permeating our land with his evil teachings. His spirit has sweeped through the land like a disease spreading from parish to parish, and Your Holiness I think it is this the stars are trying to tell us. This is a new beginning for Sweden, where we finally will be able to live as loyal servants to God and benefit from what the Roman church has been trying to do for Sweden but sadly has been mismanaged.

Holy Father, I realize the church is holy and should not be changed, but when someone has changed it I believe it is God's will that it is restored to what it used to be. I take on myself during my time as Prima Suecia to restore the church of Sweden to what it was, and to show it the light again so that we can all live as we want following the teachings of Christ and as servants of Him.

Holy Father, I need help in this though. I am sadly not Christ, alone I cannot change the ill spirit of the land but with your help and blessing I can see that the teachings of God will reach every corner of this country and that the citizens of Sweden again will walk the path fo the rightous and faithful. What is listed below should not be seen as a list of needs, but as a list of what I wish would be done to help the restoration. I pray that God will help me and that Your Holiness will read this letter. Sweden is not worthy of your compassion, but we hope that You will see us where we stand and hlp us out of the darkness. I ask for only four things:

  • The canonization of Birgitta Birgersdotter of Sweden to recognize her as the patron saint of Sweden so that I with her help as well as God's can succeed. Her life was only second to Christ in faithful, she's the founder of the Bridgetine Order and author of Revelationes coelestes which gives and account for her numerous revelations in life. She made numerous pilgrimages and lived in Rome to be near the pope from 1350 to her death in 1373.

  • Your Holiness' blessing in my actions, to give them justification and acceptance among the nobles. I also wish Your Holiness could pray for me in my quest against the devil.

  • Economic help, as unfortunate it is that religious means requires worldly resources. It is necessary, but the aim is good and even the single silver florine is appreciated up north where the church was poor before and now even poorer after having been exposed to the teachings of Satan.

  • Your Holiness' forgiveness for us letting this unfaithful man ruling the church of Sweden for so long, without letting us see what was doing. We were lead up the garden path by the devilish servants of Satan, and without the forgiveness of God we will enter his realm.

Please let us make up for our sins, and let us again enter the path of the faithful

Signed and sealed by his own hand in Stockholm,

Pax Vobiscum,

Henricus Caroli, Episcopus Ubsaliensis, Prima Suecia

The Weak Pontiff was moved by this gift from the Hungarians. Urban gave a cough, and spoke,

My Dear Brother in Christ, this is a wonderous gift. The Children of God in the Christian Kingdom of Hungary have all the support to end the Heathen Advance into the Land of Christ. As a Good Christian, it is his duty to stop the Heathen Infidel from entering the Body of Christ and destroying what he has done. As for the gifts, bring them into the room. After further examination, we shall decide where to place these pagan treasures.

As the converted servants entered they bore several large chests. Upon opening them it was discovered that they contained many items of precious metals, some inset with gems as well. While it was an assortment of items it was obvious that their total value would be great. As the last was brought in the Bishop smiled and bowed.

"Such support will make the Queen most pleased Your Holiness. With the full support of the Church, how can they fail? There is also another.. ah... chest. Which contains religious symbols taken from the pagan. They are made of precious metals so they were naturally not thrown away. It has been considered to smelt them down and use the metals for crosses and crusifixes however. If Your Holiness supports such and action then it shall be done and the product will be presented to Your Holiness as well."

The Pontiff was amazed at the treasures presented from the Lith Crusade. It was truely amazing.

My Dear Brother, you shall do as you suggested, and such a Crucifix would hang in the Castel. All these treasures will be placed, I believe in the Cathedral of Saint Peter.

The Pontiff, overcome with weakness, fell silent, and was soon overcome by a fit of coughs, one which he has endured many a time. He soon recovered and looked the Hungarian in the eyes, awaiting a responce.

Mátyás Ujlaky bowed his head in reverence.

"It shall be as Your Holiness wishes. These symbols shall be converted to items of God as soon as possible. We shall send out for the finest craftsmen to do this task."

The Bishop then paused for a bit. "There is one more thing. As Your Holiness no doubt knows there has been some unrest in Hungary after the death of King Lajos. Certain nobles did not wish to see his daughter Mária take the throne. Then again, the late King only had daughters and it was his wish that she should be crowned. Recently the Queen has also married Jan of Luxembourg, the brother of the King of the Romans. Soon, he shall be crowned King of Hungary so that there is a man on the throne, as is proper. While this should please the nobles it would still be of great benefit to us if Your Holiness would recognize the Queen and her husbands right to rule. As we speak measures are being taken to put down these insurgents."
