I'm not sure if this qualifies as a "mod", but is there a way to change the scripts so that I only get ANY event popups for my immediate family? There is a sticky explaining how to get rid of some of the childhood event popups for non-family courtiers but I really need to get rid of all of them, including "personality matures" and "formal education begins".

I have so many courtiers that it has become unplayable. 95% of my time is spent clicking on event popups.

It's possible (THANK GOD) to switch off the trait events for 'impersonal' children. Is there a way to switch off/automate the education decision process? In my current game, there are several hundred child courtiers, so I'm being spammed insensate. I'd like to finish out the game, but it's too slow (about an hour and a half per year on Extremely Fast, due to the education process)

I'm betting not, but if there is, I'll be so happy! :) And I know MY happiness is everyone's concern.

I know this is an old thread, but I'm still in the same boat. I simply can't finish my game because of the constant education/personality matures/education finishes/stressed/illness etc spamming. It's awful.

I'm messing with the events files to try and get rid of education events for non-family members. I thought it would be trivial, but so far it either fires for everybody in my court or nobody including the ruler's family.

One thing CK desperately needs is better message controls. Things like "stressed" messages or "illness" messages or events for non-family members should be stuff you can turn off.

Problem is that Stress, Illness etc are events. It's just not possible to turn off events sensibly, since many of them require you to choose an option. It would perhaps be theoretically possible to have events with just one option automatically resolved, so there would be no pop-up, but since for example death events are one option events, you might suddenly come to realize that two of your sons have died.

Now, when 1.05 is done, I'm planning to create "as-handsoff-as-possible" modification of education and childhood, so for every courtier you would need to just click "Ok" twice or thirce. However, part of the too much events problem is that you have so many courtiers. If you have a hundred courtiers, there are a lot more children needing educations and everything than when you have just some twenty or thirty.

Yeah, but because two parents can have so many children it is quite easy to go from "I need just a few more courtiers" to "OH MY GOD SO MANY POPUPS" without realizing it. 30 Courtiers isn't too much to handle... but then if they have 4-6 kids each you've all of a sudden got 150 courtiers. Ooops.

I'm going to be a lot more aggressive with the "die" cheat command in my next game. If I kill off all the kids with stats that add up to less than 28 maybe it'll stay manageable.

I usually refrain from getting poorer statted more distant relatives (ie, others than ruler's children) married in the first place, so in the 30 there are perhaps four or five couples popping up kids, so it stays more manageable.

Also, if you are a big and expanding kingdom, you often can throw extra courtiers as landlords somewhere.

I dont marry (after the first 50 yrs or so), anyone without at least one 10 stat. As the game goes on, it tightens to 2 10's or 1 13+, and tightens further as time goes on. I still have, in my current game, close to 1000 courtiers and god only knows how many children in the court. Even with occasional bouts of the F12 plague, it's just out of control.

If you're really working on the 'handsoff' option, Byak, I'll be sending along a voucher for a weekend of partying of your choice of the Bush twins ;)

Like I said, I won't be working it before 1.05 is out, since it's awfully more practical for me that way and 1.05 is quite close, as MrT's Last Call sticky points out.
