Country won't show up when modding

Hello!

I just started my first attempt at modding eu4. I made new files for the provinces of my custom country and changed the owner. The provinces end up with the old owner except the capital, who becomes uncolonized. What did I do wrong?

Could be that the name of the file in the provinces folder has characters that aren't recognized by the games engine. Remove any extra hyphens, special characters, etc, from the file name and load up the mod again after these changes.
