Hmm, difficulty can change over play time and Uk's direction.
Classic Germany and Japan or Germany and Italy?
Yugoslavia and Romania?

Edit: Jap Manchu might be too easy...

Well there are -plenty- of choices. Since I have all the DLCs, ill gladly list a ton for ya, though I will only be doing the facist ones.

Germany and Sweden.
Germany and Italy.
Germany and Bulgaria.
Germany and Romania.
Germany and Turkey.
Germany ance Greece.

Honestly Germany with anyone is a good combination.

Italy doesn't really play well with others imo unless you're going to play with a Germany.

UK and Germany are grand countries to play with any other country.

You can do a Germany and Facist Mexico. Germany and Facist America. Germany and Japan. Japan and Dutch East Indies. Manchuria and Germany is an interesting combination. Germany and Columbia for Gran Columbia. A ton ton TON of options to choose from!

From the recent expansion, a Germany and a Bulgaria team up is really solid. Germany can do all of the hard conquest for Bulgaria and then cede the land over to Bulgaria who can core it and build up, all while not at war with the allies. That way Germany only needs to worry about anval invasions from Normandy while Bulgaria builds up their military and economy and then joins the war! Its a really solid combination.

You can also do a German Monarchy((Kaiser or Kaiserinn)) with Turkey doing the Ottoman Empire. Thats another cool combination.

You could do a Germany and Nationalist Spain game((Either of the two facist ones)) since Germany can remove the civil war debuff from Spain which grants it the ability to really start ramping up its strength to assist.

Another interesting and odd one to do is Germany and Morroco/North Africa contunries for Al Andalus. Germany could -really- assist with that one. Kick Italy out of the Axis and form the new Axis powers. Theres alot of options in terms of playing with Germany and things in Africa, Middle East, And Europe. Iran and germany is a good one. Iran making the Persian Empire is super solid as well.

Sweden forming the nordic Empire and splitting the Soviet Union with Germany is a really strong combination. Esp if Sweden gets full compliance inside of Soviet Union before they capitulate. Giving germany the oil fields as well as Leningrad and Stalingrad to form the Greater German Reich and give Sweden the rest of it allows both countries to be super super super powerful.

Asia is a little more difficult in my opinoin to have combinations though Soviet Union and Communist China have some plays.

True, but @PassaTTT asked for medium dificulty. Any coop involving Germany would be easy.

Oh medium difficulty? I guess Japan and DEI? Italy is more hard difficulty than anything. I cant really say theres much warfaring nations thats a medium difficult... Japan is about it. Japan doesn't really have alot of countries it can really play well with imo. I guess Iran and Japan could technically work.

Hmm, they should more balanced with each other for two players, unless you can talk your friend into playing the minor country. ;)

Edit: Soviet Union and US

The medium difficulty means you basically have to chose two minor or medium powers that don't have any major overlapping goals, and that aren't part of either Axis, Allies or Soviets. That said, assuming all DLC, I think the following combinations could have great opportunities for a long, fun and engaging game:
  • Greece (Byzantine Empire) & Poland - Someone is coming for you. Maybe everyone. Maybe all at once!
  • Bulgaria & Poland - Similar to above, but you can maybe keep Allies on your side, but you will have a harder time expanding Bulgarian territories
  • Austria-Hungary & Ottoman Empire - Axis or Allies first? Choices, choices and more choices. If you wait too long, it will be made for you.
  • Portugal & Netherlands - Some really cool wargoals depending on your focus path and choice of alignment.
  • Morocco & any other country that will help them form Al-Andalus. The Emirate of Cordoba is immensely satisfying to play as, but you need a little bit of luck in SP to form, but in MP, you can bring a friend to help you out instead.
  • Guanxi Clique & Siam - Help your Chinese Warlord buddy rise to dominance, while forming the Rattanakosin Kingdom yourself.
  • Manchuria & Siam - Similar to above, help your Chinese buddy rise to dominance, while forming the Rattanakosin Kingdom yourself, but you are not close enough to support each other early on

It really depends on what you consider "medium" difficulty: UK and Netherlands can be fun co-op, with a super-easy naval war, medium air war, and very tough land war to manage.

I'll have to disagree about the third one. AH And OE don't really work all that well together anymore. It did before the expansion, but the new Ottoman Empire actually -wants- all of the balkans for the manpower and such. Ottoman isn't really a good choice. I think Poland is a better option if they go non aligned or France or Portugal. But thats my opinion.

In a single player game against the world, yes I would agree, you probably need the Balkan states, but with a reliable ally that occupies those same territories? You can skip the Balkans and just focus on coring southern Greece and the islands, the Middle East and North Africa. You should end up with a core population of around 70-75 million, plenty for taking on the world :)

Eh I guess. Theres just not that much population in the Middle east and north Africa. Or resources. The GOOD resources are over in the balkans but I suppose it would work.
