Is there anyone else out there who uses the NATO counters on the map rather than the little men and machines?

I always use the Counters,

The only time i change back to Sprite modem is if there is major Air Operations going on. I find aircraft can be a bit pesky when one has a large stack of troops in tem..


You know this thread would be alot better if we had Blondes V Red Heads title. Red heads, hands down.

Counters give more info - good to see if you are about to fight enemy inf, mot, cav, militia, garrisons, etc.

I use counters all the time.

I marked a zillion maps with them as an intelligence officer in the army,

its my second language..

I was tested on this stuff for days on end..

and trained brits in Uk on same...

I always use sprites.

A game is not only about info but the graphical pleasures as well. Far more satisfying whatching my stukas destroying soviet division after division or my Panther tanks tearin up the russian land scape. Ah the joys of Hoi2.

the counteres add a sense of realism, the sprites look like old gi joe "dolls" and im not down with that. they just look so ridiculous all that great mapmaking and info splashed with cartoon characters - bleh

Sprites in HoI 1, counters in HoI 2.

Note that you can toggle between them easily now. Right click on the date/time button to get an option to switch. This is especially useful in MP when the host has a different preference.
