started a game in 1066 Tuscany and gave bresca to a random gen as you start massively over demise limit and I make him my marsal then about a year later I get the missing councillor banner at the top of the screen and I see he’s been made duke of farira by the emperor who created the duchy 3 days before granting it to him emperor had no problems with his vassal limit and gave the title to my vassal instead of a count in the duchy he had made

Is this normal or a bug

TLDR: emperor gave a non-dejuer duchy to my count vassal

I assume it's normal. When I'm King, I do the same thing to weaken angry powerful vassals, so it makes sense that the AI would do it too.

Yes , as a Duke I gave my childhood friend , and long -suffering , stalwart , but low-born spymaster a county , and the most fertile noble wife I could find , so that not only he , but his children , would prosper .

But then my loser liege King stole him away --- by giving him a poor two county Duchy that he doesn't bother to protect from the Vikings.

And now my bestest buddy is a stranger.

I also conquered Brittany -- to save it for the Celtic Bretons -- and divided it up among Celtic Breton Counts under my beneficent thumb.

Again , my Liege lord King stole away all of this with the creation of weak Duchies --- which promptly fell to Viking depredations.
