Originally SimCity2013 was meant to be a deep simulation game that would track every single Sim and really focus on the city management aspect.

For CS2, the description of the game states:

“Offering a deep simulation and a living economy, Cities: Skylines II will challenge your decision-making skills and allow you to build the cities of your dreams. Get ready for a new epic scale in the most realistic city builder - ever.“

As there is a mention of deep simulation and realism, does everyone think there will be more of a focus on city management this time around and make it more like something that has the mayor feeling of a SimCity game while maintaining that creative builder feel from CS?

I don't know, but I don't like their silence. It's just annoying, you don't know how long to wait for news about the completion of CS. Because as they say, the news about CS2 will be only after CS. Also, we have a trailer that was most likely made by another company on EU5, even though the game is on Unity. So now we just have to wait for them to share the news. Everything is too vague

I keep seeing comments about making a trailer in UE5, regardless of what engine the game is in.

Unreal isn't just a game engine. In the past few years they have tackled other areas like architectural visualization, simulation, VFX (especially with those big LED video walls in lieu of green screen), and movie rendering. Unreal is set up out of the box to import in a bunch of game ready assets and then use all the built cinema camera and scene animation tools to make nice videos quickly. Then you don't have to import them into Maya or 3DS Max and redo the materials and etc. Unreal is the currently best tool for that job in this scenario.

As far as the actual game. Both Unity and Unreal are equally suited to making a great CS:2. One of the engines gets a bad rap because it's more welcoming to lower skilled users, and as such, lots of mediocre content has come out with it. The other engine has a higher learning curve and has mostly targeted expert users. But both are capable of mostly similar output in the right hands.

I think we might be hearing something about it next month. Maybe some gaming magazine will get a scoop of it and will do an exclusive story on it. Dev diaries might be starting soon, and what I have noticed is usually the new ones don't reveal much and they gradually build up as it progress.
