Victory!

In the year of 1646 the great King Per was strolling through his temporary country recidence and felt joy over the way things were progressing. France had finally fått smaka, and the sun stood high over the excelent vineyards of Italy. Continuously couriers kept borthering him though, coming in and out from the nearby military headquarters he had set up. Something about an invasion somewhere. No matter, nothing could spoil his good mood and the excellent Napolean wines were at a steady flow. Looking out of his window over flourishing Naple valleys, he once again forced back the thought that this might not be his home at all and that he had been forcibly removed by Spain and Austria. A dream, nothing to be bothered over. Far north in the distance he could almost see the fires smoldering over Milan. France was destroyed and life was great.

Timurids be gone!

The war against Portugal proved somewhat pointless - after some initial excitement when what most likely was a troop carrying fleet and their heavy escorts were sunk the only real action was when an enemy army of 20 thousand somehow managed to reach the lands of the empire. They were quickly and relatively easily dealt with. Since further encounters with the superior Portuguese naval forces were skillfully avoided and all neighboring colonial territories swiftly occupied by the Imperial African Army either side could make no real progress and a white peace was eventually negotiated.

During this war the Imperial vassal of Gujarat became fully incorporated into the Empire, and after the conflict concluded Raja Sriranga I spent the rest of his reign converting these new provinces to a more suitable faith as well as improving the infrastructure throughout the Imperial realms. His successor, Tirumala I, did not deviate from this path when he ascended the throne in 1621. Being already very wise and experienced (OLD) he ruled for only 9 years before his time came and his heir Praudha I took the oaths of service to the Empire.

Soon thereafter came the time when the Doge of Venice, always eager to get at the Ottomans, asked whether Vijayanagara would be interested in making sure that their allies, the Timurids, would be otherwise occupied. As the time was ripe for expansion to the north west the Raja graciously agreed and the invasion was swiftly carried out. Due to long wars they could only mount a token defense and it was only due to the sheer size of the nation that the campaign lasted for six years. Eventually they were forced give up some provinces and release large portions of their lands as independent nations, only to then break up further due to numerous rebellions and opportunistic attacks.

The newly released nations were, by some coincidence, just the right size for being assimilated by one or two brief wars - a process initiated as soon as decently possible and now well under way. No matter what the future brings the empire will stand strong!

Franskt vin bättre säger du...

Kollonialkrigen fortsatte för Toscansk del, då Franskägda Guyane ville söta sin tillvaro med sockerodlingarna som upprättats i den nya världen. När så moderländerna dragits in kunde Florens mannar relativt lätt marchera in och istället se till att Franska Guyane nu inte längre är franskt. Även en viktig hamnstad vid atlanten libererades. Den lilla granstaten Guyenne (inte att förväxla med Guyane. Franska namn...) blev så inspirerad av de Toscanska värderingar och dess statsskick att man snart valde att ansluta sig till Republiken.

Milanesiska kungen har länge slängt onda ögon på de franska länderna, så när makten i florens bestämt sig för att den atlantiska kusten borde utvidgas var han en given medkombatant. Snart kunde man liberera en ansenlig landmassa från den blå massan i väst. Olyckligtvis var Monarken i Milan allt för girig och vårdslös på sitt segertåg, och detta gick ej Europas starkare makter förbi. En spanskledd allians slog till mot den Italienska pakten. Kriget gick i början motigt, men när man har i början av 1646 hunnit omgruppera och resultatet av konflikten är ej skriven än.

Betrayal

The war against Prussia came to an abrupt end when the Bavarian ruler disappeared from his court under mysterious circumstances, and his advisers choose to end the war without the consent of the alliance. The war with Sweden still remained however but the Swedish king saw reason and agreed to return all his unlawfully conquered provinces from Norway and also let Gotland and Skåne join the Hanseatic League. The focus of the league was still on the north Atlantic trade routes and soon the Free Cities of Canada could be founded, with the blessing of the council in Lübeck, to help manage and protect the Hanseatic trade fleets bound for Europe.

The Hansa remained in the coaliton against Prussia as had been previously agreed by the coalition members so that Prussia would not be able to attack one of the members alone. Unfortunately the council did not notice that the Italian rulers did not hold their promise but instead abandoned the League and the fools governing Bavaria to their own fate. So when Bavaria in an act of utter stupidity attacked Prussia without any support the League was drawn into the war as well. When the council noticed that they had been betrayed they quickly re-located the ruling government to Scotland and sent the army to the occupied Danish Isles so that the fleet could protect it. As expected the Prussians quickly defeated the Bavarian army and then went to the offensive in northern Germany. Although massive protest from the people demanded that the capital to be protected the council decided to focus the armies attention to England and Sweden as they were also participating in the war, effectively leaving the German core provinces unprotected. The council knew from experience that the mercenary armies the League could muster were no match for the Prussians. The war dragged on and several cities fell to the invading Prussians which made the public even more unhappy. The Statthalter saw no other alternative but to hold a vote in favor of a liberation attempt on the capital that was besieged by a grand Prussian army. The vote was crushingly in favor for an attack and new mercenary regiments were recruited in the British Isles. The council knew that it was only a waste of men but the people had made their will clear. The army landed outside Hamburg and sought to break the siege there but although the numbers of the Hanseatic army was almost double that of the Prussians the battle was an utter disaster, leaving almost twenty thousand dead Hanseatic troops in the field before the remaining forces could disengage and retreat to the Danish Isles. In the peace that followed Bavaria was forced to return several provinces to the Emperor in Vienna which was unfortunate as it was all due to the stupidity of the Bavarian advisers and the cowardice of the Italian rulers. The Hansa now stands alone with the threat of invasion from Prussia always present.

The Norwegian cities had their vote and decided to join the League as expected, so did Scotland and also the free cities of Wales after a defeat against the English when the League was occupied in the colonies. Soon the English thorn will have to be permanently removed.

Overseas

The inevitable Prussian invasion came quickly while the Italian states were occupied in their greedy war against the French and the Bavarian King was still raving from madness. The Hanseatic council had no choice but to evacuate Germany while the Prussians sieged the entire countryside. None answered the call to help from the council and it was soon apparent that the Hansa had nothing to expect from the greedy Italian lords. Peace was settled and all inland provinces held by the League had to be abandoned to the Prussians.

The Hanseatic armies had not even engaged the enemy this time but had been used in defense of the free cities of wales. In addition troops were sent westwards to capture several key Islands and colonies from the English alliance so that several colonial republics could be created in the new world to strengthen Hanseatic trade in the region. The Hanseatic colonists are sailing further and further west and although the Iberian and Italian lords and some heretic Asian country in the far west has greedily colonized most of the new world. It is but a manner of time until these subjects will realize that democracy and freedom is worth fighting for and overthrow their oppressive masters.

The chinese campaign continued, even though the opposition grew as more and more countries joined the coalition against Ayutthaya. Zhou finally admitted defeat and accepted the irresistable proposal of vassalisation. To minimize peacetime, a new campaign into Japan was started, but they soon joined the coalition too...

Soon after the vassalisation of Zhou, an era came to its end, as the Ayutthayan explorers could find no new unsettled lands for the colonists to exploit. The scarceness of habitable land hade forced the colonists to venture into sibiria, but now even that possibility had come to an end. Instead the king saw the possibility to expand the border of the colonial subject Magra, since it was already at war with a portugese subject. Unfortunately this wasn't appreciated in Europe and he soon found himself in war with npt only Portugal, but also France, Spain, England and all of their subjects... Exciting times are on the horizon!

Kapitel 8:
Lega Lombarda risorto

Toscana och dess mindre civiliserade men kapabla allierade Milan slog under mitten av 1600-talet tillbaka de ondsinta Spaniorerna och de bittra Österrikarna vid flera tillfällen. Fientligheten dessa visade kunde direkt spåras till den nordligare regentens girighet, men låt det vara sagt att Lombarder måste stå enade. Territoriet i vad som en gång var sydöstra Frankrike kunde under denna tid utökas med Baskisk kust, och även en viktig del av Bretagne kunde snart räknas till republiken.

Makten över kyrkan föll äntligen åter i rätt händer. Den nya påven har på Florenskt initiativ förlåtit Kungaätten i Bayern för tidigare felsteg. Det är en ny tid och sådan barbarism är inte kyrkan värdig.

Det står klart att även om den Toscanska armén är utom kritik finns det mycket utrymme för förbättring för flottan. Ansvariga kommer att ställas till svars.

Förövrigt: Tänk gärna över hur länge ni känner att detta spel ska fortsätta. Jag tycker det finns en del kvar att hämta men det lär väl inte bli allt för många sessioner till. Om vi ska starta om så vore det ju dock nice att vänta till Wealth of Nations släpps, vilket troligtvis blir inom denna månad.

Feeding

Hinner inte med någon AAR, men hände inte så mycket - vassalizerade Timuriderna och tog några bitar av Persien, förbättrade infrastrukturen.

But time flows like a river... and history repeats.

de trogna med ack så inkompetenta rådgivarna Dum och dummare hade lämnat ett Bavaria i kaos, men genom ett guds mirakel fick Bavaria tillbaka en stor del av de land de hade förlorat.
Kungen kallade dock in sina rådgivare för att få en förklaring till lite märkliga giftermål å krig som dum och dummare hade gjort, de svarade med knivar! Kungen av Bavaria var död en son på blott 7år fick nu invänta sin tid på tronen.

När han väl var fyllda 15 förklarades det krig mot Austria och en del landområden togs. I förvåning fick kungen av Bavaria också bli kejsare av imperiet, rätt och riktigt kan man tycka då stora delar av imperiet redan var bayerskt.
men att suputen i söder hade röstat så togs med förvåning, slutsatsen drog att härskaren av Tuscany förmodligen dryckit för mycket av sitt eget vin å därefter gjort fel, eller var det en gest?

Lång tid av fred förflöt då mycket skulle ställas tillrätta bland annat så hade dum och dummare organiserat om bavarias militärmakt till 8000man 4000 beridna och 40 000 kanoner, en minst sagt märklig sammansättning.

Jag är sen att skriva men here goes:

When King Per emerged from his hiding place on the southern tip of the Italian peninsula he looked upon the world with greed and hunger. It had been 235 years since his descent from the heavens and with Gods evil nemesis France finally subdued, the time was ripe to forcefully conquer the world! Everything must fall under the Milanic empire and Iberia was first to bite the dust. Now when the dam is broken Milan is spilling fourth through western Europe like a kind friend whom you would like to invite for tea. Everyone is delighted... except the Hanseatic League whom, by our neglect, are not.

Focus in the West

The late 17:th century was a time of great conquests in the west for the Hansa. The combined powers of the Portugese and English was no match for the Hanseatic navy and soon colonial lands governed by greedy men could be turned into flourishing democracies. Several native American tribes also sought the protection of the Hansa and it's north Atlantic allies during this time.

The Bavarian-Prussian alliance fought off the Italian Invasion of France in several wars wish led to the defeat of the Italians and France once again restored some of its borders. In the east it seems the Venetian Doge has finally made contact with the Indian Emperor by land, giving credit to the rumors of the Asian expansion towards Europe.

After several colonial wars on the Island of Brazil, that went badly for some of the republics in the North Atlanic Trade Union, pleas were sent to the League to assist in the fighting. The calls to arms were answered and the fleet set sail for the colonies. Unfortunately the Milanese King saw fit to involve himself in the war and was able to send an army to Brazil before the Hanseatic blockade was in place. All other Milanese colonies have fallen but the armies in Brazil have so far been able to repel all Hanseatic landings. In the Mediterranean the League won several victories against the Italian navy but unfortunately the squadron left to blockade the enemy fleet was a bit thin due to the entry of Portugal and it's colonies in the war so when the Milanese conscripted a new navy they were able to break the trade blockade. A new squadron led by Admiral Schuberth himself will soon set sail for the Mediterranean though and restore the honor of his fallen comrades.

The world is dark and full of terrors

En tanke slog Bavarias härskare, Prussia må vara starkt men de sätter också stort värde på att följa avtal.
Det är inte långt från tanke till handling ibland, Avtal efter avtal efter avtal skickades till prussia tillsammans med Bayersk öl i mängder.
Förhoppning var att inte allting skulle läsas igenom så noga. Förhoppningarna överträffades :)

med det i tankarna tittade bavaria sig om i världen insåg att frankrike vän och allierad hade fått djupa sår, detta borde åtgärdas.
Till härskaren av milan lämnades således ett förslag, det spottades på, krig vart av nöden. Kriget såg till en början ut att gå emot bavaria men
en ryttare skickades iväg till prussia, Klausul 15,23,992 på sidan 1034, Bavaria ber om krigsstöd och enligt avtal skall hoppas vi att ni uppfyller eran del.

Prussias besked var positivt, en armé sändes till stöd. och kriget vände fort.

Frankrike fick således tillbaka mycket av sina marker och de svor evig vänskap till Bavaria.
ett par år flött förbi och ett par nya krig mot milan å tuscanny kom till del, allt i syfte av att sätta världen i balans igen.
året han han bli 1715 och Bavarias hedersamma uppträdande hade skapat enorm respekt och kärlek från Spanien och Frankrike.

Further expansion

Things are well in the Empire. While Vijayanagara is somewhat overshadowed by Ayutthaya, their mighty neighbor in the east, so are all nations and the Raja can not help but being proud of the fact that he is the leader of one of the most powerful nations on the globe. With that said he is also the first to admit that a little further careful expansion is only healthy and natural.

The wars against Nogai, Persia and Oman fell into a natural cycle: gain as much territories as could be comfortably held, return them to their rightful owner the Timurids, wait until the truces ended, repeat. This cycle was sped up even more thanks to the smaller nations tendency to joint into a pitiful coalition against the Empire - this did not offer any protection but allowed the Raja to attack enemies without truces, knowing that all of them would have to join. All of Persia and large swaths of Nogai were conquered in this way, until the Imperial Vassal the Timurids had reached its former glory. They were soon fully integrated into the Empire, leaving only the small pieces of Nogai that Muscovy had overlooked.

The campaigns then changed track as old Imperial claims were found on neighboring provinces (at a rate of about one per year per nation for some strange reason). Further gains were got from Nogai, Kazakh ended up an Imperial vassal, the holdings in Oman expanded and were even fully connected to the rest of the Empire trough former Ottoman lands. The later was the result of taking turns with Venice pummeling them into submission, something this friendly and, by now, close by European nation gladly did to their age old rival.

While there are still plenty of gains to be made the Raja is starting to feel that the glory of Vijayanagara has now been ensured for all of time, even in a distant future were there is only friendly coexistence of large and powerful nations - should such a utopia ever come to pass...

Time of strife never ends and after the catastrophic defeat at Liguria so vividly displayed in one of the King of Germanys reports, all we could do was to lick our wounds and consolidate ourselves with the facts. No Great Milan Empire will ever see the light of day. Great sadness for everyone.

In our sorrow though there were new wars, as for Milan, war is never ending, especially against superior forces. The Hanseatic Leagues expansions throughout the colonies collided with our colonial states security and weakened as we were, we just had to march off to a new war.

Never retreat, almost never surrender!
