The first thing I do after a new update comes out is to check the newly added Polish dynamic names for any spelling issues (mostly missing "ó" letter - the only Polish letter than can be used in EU4) or other problems. And since this thread exist, it means I did find a few.
  • Berlin (Rypin) (50) => —
  • Ruppin (51) => Rypin
  • Lüneburg (53) => Bardowieck
  • Wittenberg (Biala Gora) (59) => Biala Góra
  • Landshut (64) => Lancut
  • Salzburg (Monachium) (76) => Solnogród
  • Oberpfalz (Gorny Palatynat) (1757) => Górny Palatynat
  • Ostmarch (1770) => Rakusy
  • Pozsony (Bratyslawa) (1772) => Pozon (The city that's today called Bratislava, or Bratysława in Polish, wasn't called like in the EU4 period. Instead the name Pożoń was in use. The previous dynamic name was perfectly fine)
  • Lauenburg (1857) - Raciaz
  • Wenden (Kies) (4241) => — (The name Kieś wasn't during the EU4 period. Instead, the German name - Wenden, was in use. Even the unit of administrative division in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in 1598–1621 was called Wenden Voivodeship (Polish: Województwo wendeńskie).)
  • Ula (4242) => Ulla
  • Kashin (4248) => Kaszyn
  • Zubtsov (4249) => Zubcow
  • Mozhaisk (4251) => Mozajsk
  • Yuriev (4253) => Jurjew
  • Solvychegodsk (4256) => Solwyczegodzk
  • Velsk (4259) => Wielsk
  • Vyshny Volochyok (4260) => Wysznij Woloczok (the current dynamic name has a typo in it)
  • Ustyuzhna (4261) => Ustiuzna
@Trin Tragula Can we have these names fixed in the next hotfix? I don't want to wait another few months and the next major update for such a small change to be implemented.

Those two name changes (Bratysława and Kieś) were my proposal, but I agree that they were a mistake, and should be reverted. Sorry about that.

I also found another issue: Salzburg changes to Monachium, which is just plain error. The proposed name was Solnogród and it should be changed to it.
Seems like editing txt files can prove difficult.

Sadly DDRJake said that it won't be probably included in hotfix, so we need to wait before this gets fixed.

I updated the original post with all suggestions from the comments. Since the changes weren't included in the 1.24 patch, let's hope they're going to be in added the next patch.

You could also add those two:
53 Lüneburg - Bardowiek
1857 Lauenburg - Raciaz

Also probably we need to bump this thread after their vacations are over.

BTW, do you think that we should propose some changes to how The Struggle for Royal Power works? Seems like since MoH it doesn't works too well, I think it should use the disaster mechanic that comes with MoH. Also right now it seems that the option to Resign completely is just better, which is not how it should work. The penalties for fighting the rebellion also seem to harsh, 10 global unrest while now Ming gets 5 at most at low mandate seems simply retarded. Also some players said that some of the flags which were cleared previously now are not cleared.

Done, although I think the other old spelling for this city: Bardowieck would fit better since there's a city called Bardowiek in Poland and it could confuse some people when trying to look it up. As to the Struggle for Royal Power event chain, I think it should be done in another thread and not this one. I haven't played Poland since Mandate of Heaven so I can neither confirm nor deny that something's wrong with it though.

Bumping this with yet another bug. The name Rypin is applied to wrong province. It is applied to the Berlin (50), instead of Ruppin (51).
Updated the original post. Mentioning @Trin Tragula just in case.

Welp. None of the changes from this thread made it to the 1.25 patch. Berlin is still called Rypin, Wenden is still called Kies... 5 months of waiting for nothing.

I kind of wish editing dynamic province names didn't affect the checksum. I'd just make a mod for myself but then I wouldn't be able to get achievements. Why editing dynamic province names even affects the checksum anyway? It's not like the game uses province names anywhere in the code.

Hello, here I add provinces which do not have polish dynamic names or have them wrong. Mostly focused in Europe, because I'm not sure making dynamic polish names for a couple capitals in Asia, America is worth it.

I have also idea for the devs about province naming: If a province name consosts of two words they should be displayed in two lines one word under another just to prevent space and make the letters bigger and more visible.

Example:
New
York

And dear devs please add more languages to your most popular game - EU4 - than just 4... Many people in Poland, Russia, China, Italy would like to have professionally translated game to enjoy it even more. Especially that you don't have any audio dialogues to translate.

Here are my proposals to reconsider them and implement in the game in the near future:

Please check if everything is fine because I could make a mistake, write bad name etc.

Updated some provinces, mostly in Scandinavia, some of them are only phonetically correct in polish because they don't have any proper name and I polonized some province names like Vestjylland (15) => Westylandia. The ending -landia means land in polish so it's not hard to polonize some scandinavian -lland.

PS Dear @Matihood1
You can surely add provinces I wrote (I insist) to your 1st post in this topic, just to make sure everyone sees all the provinces and not only some that are written on the top. :D

Hello, here I add provinces which do not have polish dynamic names or have them wrong. Mostly focused in Europe, because I'm not sure making dynamic polish names for a couple capitals in Asia, America is worth it.
Great work! I see you put a lot of effort into it. Although I'm not sure about 1 province:
Ust-Sysolks (1964) => Syktywkar
If you look into the older versions of the game, you'll see that this used to be a dynamic Polish name for that province, originally proposed by me and later removed on my request. The reason being the name "Syktywkar" (or Syktyvkar, Сыктывка́р) has been first used in 1921 so way after the game's timeline. The province of Ust-Sysolsk is actually pretty problematic because I believe the province name and the capital name, Ust-Sysola have been accidentally swapped by the devs and never fixed. "Sysola" is actually the name of a river in Russia close to where Ust-Sysolsk is located and "Ust-Sysola" would just mean "East Sysola". I think this province needs to be taken a second look upon before giving it a dynamic name.

The rest of the names is perfectly fine. You even remembered to include the "ó" letter. Good job. Hopefully the devs will see your comment.

Nice, I didn't know that some of the places you wrote down here also have their polish dynamic names, even though I visit Groningen a couple of times a year, but I've never heard it's polish name "Groninga".

Most of them are dropped by now. Groninga (Gröninga) was used up into XX century, now only in books dealing with history. Many of such names are adaptations of Latin names (Bryksja instead of Brescia), Kolonia (from Colonia Agrippina) instead of Köln - this second from gave Kolno, which was in use up to XVIII century; Lacjum instead of Lazio. Latinised names most of the time are suitable to use in Polish.
Some cities, lands have doublets, based on Latin and Local name in the West or Slavic and local or Latin in the east:
Orléans -> Orlean (modern exonym) and Aurelian
Grenoble -> Grenobla (used up to first part of XX century) and Gracjanopol (up to XIX cent)
Arras -> same in Polish (some people also decline it) and Atrebat
Pisa -> Piza (modern exonym), Pizy (adaptation of Latin Pisae)
Perugia -> Peruż (very old but discontinued exonym), and ancient Peruzja.
Lyon -> Lyon, rarely fully adapted Lion or Lugdun(um)
Lausitz -> Łużyce (Slavic name) and Luzacja (commonly used Latin name until XIX century.
Leuven -> hist. Lowanium

Oh yeah, you're right. I must've mistaken "ust" with "ost". It's been a while since I learned Russian. Still, it doesn't make sense for "Ust-Sysola" to be the name of the province's capital.
2964 Altmark - Stara Marchia
Are there no other, more suitable Polish names for that region? No cities or anything? Because if Poles were to ever conquer all the "marches", I doubt they'd keep the German divisions. Just like now nobody uses the name "Neumark" for the part of Poland where Neumark used to be.

It depends. Załabie?It's harder to find Slavic names west of Łaba-Soława (Elbe-Saale) line.
Havelberg could be represented as Hobolin. The closest Slavic tribes were Drzewianie and smolińcy.

Altmark is already translated as Hawolin (different name for Hobolin.) But I can be switched to Hobolin too. Other possible town for it is Łączyn. Many of German names from Okcydent list are already added.
And for future it is better to post edited txt file, so there will be no errors from Paradox staff which took another months to correct.
And if the name changes will be still ignored someone will probably need to contact someone higher. Last name update only happened after I emailed Fredrik Wester about them being ignored by devs.

You are entirely right. Those province/state name changes should count same as graphical mods. I can completely understand devs being unable to update hundreds of names for dozens of languages, though they already got most work done by community in that matter. But if for whatever reason this fails it's better to give it completely to community to handle themselves. If such mods change checksum I could as well install mods like M&T or HIP which not only have more accurate, detailed maps overall, but also most of those names already included, so I can just not bother with vanilla at all as well.
