So I was playing CK II and created a kingdom called the Kingdom of Cornwall. I was using Holy Fury and expected a coronation to be an option but it never occurred. Noticing this I assumed my ruler had been automatically coronated when he formed the kingdom but as the game progressed he kept getting penalties for not having been crowned yet.

Why is this happening and how can I fix it?

was it actual king tier, or petty king, like the smaller kings of Ireland? because that's still considered duke level then

In the Charlemagne DLC you can make a kingdom if you control enough land.
I used that to create the kingdom of Cornwall. Controlling Cornwall, Wessex, Gloucester, and Somerset. Once one of these kingdoms is made it gain de jure territory.

It should be in the decisions tab, mouse over the question mark. It might give you a clue as to what's wrong, if not then it may be a glitch.

It might be that it will enable upon sucession, rather than upon creation of the kingdom title. Also it is only available for feudal characters so if you're tribal or a merchant republic then coronations are not available for you
