Why am I able to core inland African provinces without a land connection? I have no tributaries or subjects in the area.
It looks like a bug; idk it might be related with the last age idea that removes nearly all the coring restrictions.
No we can´t (unless it changed in 1.24!) , we can only do that if the capital is connected to said core.Nah, looks like he already has a core in Tagant in the far Northwest of the image - and he occupies all the provinces in between that province and the ones he's trying to core. Coring range can go through occupied provinces (even if they are not owned by you) - been like that forever.
I took a look at his save ~11 years before that screenshot so I know his capital is/was in Constantinople and there was no connection whatsoever to East Africa (still not colonized). In my current 1.24 campaign the game was letting me take provinces in places I definitely should not be allowed to take them. So when I saw his post I thought that it might be a bug trelated to that late idea for whatever reason. Or those linking provinces are now colonized and “capital” coring range is now spreading through HRE vassals (in non-HRE lands) + occupied provinces which is very unlikelyCan't be the rev era bonus, it's too early for that.
My first thought was subjects + capital in Africa, but I'm not sure why someone would put it there as Mughals (Europe makes the most sense for trade companies). It's not obvious to me what is allowing all of these to be cored.
Those sort of changes never pop up in patch notes (...) For what is worth in a few hundred hours of playing 1.23 I also saw a situation that I was able to core when I absolutely should not be allowed to do it. Since I could not reproduce it again I did not bother with it and dismissed it as a fluke/bug. Btw did you or someone else linked North Africa with East Africa since 1563?This is on 1.23.1 still. Unless it's a bug, the only explanation that makes sense is that occupied territory counts for coring range. If this was changed for 1.23 then I'd really really appreciate a heads up in the patch notes. Unfortunately I can't test it since Macina is war leader.
