Hi All,

Can someone explain what are cores and what is their purpose in the game?

I read recently that you get more resources and manpower from cores but sounds like a very abstract concept to me.

Thanks!

Hello! :)
Cores are territories that have been taken away from the Country which it "rightfully" belongs to.

Like for example: Transylvania to Hungary
Danzig and the Corridor to Germany
Northern Ireland to Ireland

Your Country is more popular in these kind of territories, so you get more Manpower and Resources from the people which live there.

A core is a province that has full rights to whoever has claims on it. For example if you have one province that is owned by Austria but both Germany and say Italy have a core claim on it, either of those countries could annex said province and get full manpower/facotry/resources from that province.

Lets say Hungary annexes that province, they would only get 2% of that provinces manpower to draw from and i believe would get less resources also.

Thanks for your help guys !

I remember seeing in WWW that you can claim cores on provinces/regions.

My question is now, can you claim cores on every province/region?

Is there any reason then not to claim a core before conquering a country?

I've payed HOI3 as Germany and never claimed any core when conquering Poland, France, Denmark, etc. was I missing resources or is this only applicable to HOI4?

Maybe "create claim" is the option I've seen then.

In that case how should I use that option?

Is not possible to declare war directly?

Is there any benefit if I create a claim before conqueriong?

Sorry for my noob questions...

Core territory is the territory you own at the beginning. Some nations might have additional cores on now foreign regions they owned historically. There is no way to create cores (other than maybe with national focusses) that don't already exist from the beginning of the game. Your benefit from them is that they grant you full manpower and no resistance movement against you.

Claims/War goals is something you can fabricate yourself. You need a claim to start a war, and the claimed region will be cheaper in the peace conference and generate less world tension if you grab it.

Generally, the concept of claims and cores is not that vital in HoI other than for roleplaying and the fact that you only get 2% manpower out of non-core territory. But as said, if you claim something, that doesn't mean you get cores. I doubt its worth it to wait months to fabricate several claims just for a bit of lower world tension, I don't see another benefit.

Check the WWW of today, you see Da9L create claims on Yougoslavian and Romanian provinces. You can declare war without claims, but under certain circumstances, and if I remember, having a claim on a province raise the world tension a little bit less than if you don't have claim.
you cant declare wars without a CB. That feature is going to be removed, but wasnt in this particular built yet as Daniel said.

Cores cannot be created, except with a national focus (similar to decisions in HoI III) with Austria during the Anschluss for example. Cores are territories where a majority of your people life outside of your borders because those territories were taken from you during ww1 for example.

Like Danzig and Posen (Poznan) for germany or Transilvania and southern slovakia for Hungary for example.
