CORE and 1.3

Looks like 1.3 has some good features. 8)

I'm wondering:

1. CORE (1st version) was going to be released on OCT 31st, or so I was told. Obviously, with the release of the 1.3, so things are going to need be reconsidered. How far does 1.3 delay the CORE release?

2. If a 1.4 patch (or a greater number than that) would CORE require another round of reworking to be compatible?

3. I've not seen very much activity here on this site, has CORE migrated somewhere else?

You are jking right? This is commen sense to have to retune a patch when the game parameters change

This has been asked several times in the suggestions thread. (Which is where this should have gone BTW). The answer is yes, the release will be compatible with 1.3. It's what's being worked on now. I'd estimate another 1-2 weeks to get everything but obscure bugs out.

To answer #2, if a mythical 1.4 gets made, then yes, we'd have to adjust the release to account for any and all changes made, especially those made to the exe, which we don't touch.

As for #3, well, it's a secret...for now...

Some of the more prestigious modifications out there, like the famed C.O.R.E. Mod and the “Great War” Mod for the First World war have openly stated that they would wait for release of 1.3 until they come forward with versions of their respective mods.

Is this true? So is this true for CORE? In affect was every prosepctive release date before 11/11/05 (Release of 1.3) just a cruel attempt at getting peoples hopes up? I would like to think not, but well I don't know anymore.

We had hoped to release before 1.3, but when it seemed imminent and we weren't ready we decided to wait (wait is not the right word - we had things to do and regardless of 1.3 or not we would not have released yet).

At no point before that (this summer and fall) did we ever say that we would wait for 1.3 - quite the opposite in fact.

Yeah you do. Just look at the quality of the interaction on this site - it's pleasant and relaxed and not fraught with egos. We know these people.

I suspect it's just the accumulated frustration getting to you. It's a shame not everyone can b-b-bind t-t-t-tension the way I c-c-can..

i know it not easy to make a mod of this caliber, and i addore the ppl ho have made this mod, and i cant whait until i get my hands on it lol.
And i know its no ide asking whene it gana be releast, its ready when its ready, but its SOOOOO hard waiting

Epaminondas, how dare you. I have always been most supportive of CORE in any way I can, but this piece in the tribune just struck me as a little odd. I advocate, and always have that CORE should be released when its devs believe it is ready.

My post was meant as a gentle affirmation of what I took to be your underlying attitude, judged from your earlier comments on the board. Absolutely no criticism was implied. If it didn't come across that way it's due to my failure to communicate effectively, and I very much regret that.

There are no changes that were made in going from 1.2 to 1.3 that should make CORE2 not function. That being said, CORE2 is being tested with version 1.3 of HoI2 so it is hard to say what effects that running with the older version might have. Game balance is based on the mechanics for version 1.3. MDow

I would recommend upgrading to 1.3 just for the improved AI alone. Granted, it makes you want to run out and upgrade your computer due the number of checks the AI does, but the result of a reactive AI is well worth it. There is an AI that can make you regret mistakes finally. MDow
