I installed core 7.1 over 7 and on the senario list it has both 7 and 7.1 did i get a bad install?

No, you didn't. For some reason (Steel should be able to answer this), both 0.7 and 0.71 show up in the scenario list. I think there was something that didn't get checked in the installer when it was created. Just play the 0.71 scenario and you should be fine.
Actually the installer tries to delete the old v0.7 campaign file and I verified that it works before I released the patch. For some reason it doesn't work for everybody else though so I'll need to take a look at it for v0.72 next week...JRaup said:
Call me stupid, if you want, but I installed the 0.71 beta over the 0.7 mod and my running campaign.... and currently I am just thinking on what to invade first.... US, Canada, New Zealand or Australia.... there is nothing more left of the Allies....

Yes, finally a challenge from the game in SP.
I have a great game going w/ v7. Will the v7.1 and v7.2 changes in event/tech carry to my saved game? I'd hate to start over from scratch as Russia again as I had a great fight in China as well as currently w/ Germany.

If you wish to finish your game I suggest you make a copy of your HOI dir and then install 0.72 on a fresh installation.

As far as possible we maintain backwards compatibility in the minor patches (v0.71, v0.72) whereas the major releases (v0.6, v0.7) will always be incompatible. I don't think there's anything in v0.71 that will break your ongoing game, but as Ghost says: make a backup
one thing I hate doing w/ starting over is to redo the improve factories. can you guys add one more option to the 5 year plan in SU where you improve every province? or at least more provinces?

Of course that still leaves the following years.. since I generally spend the first 2-4 years industrializing.
But since I always upgrade on Jan 1, the event comes a few days later and upgrades some more of my provinces.... I didn't check if it's linked to any other events so I always say yes even if I don't need it... but it would be great if your type of 5 year plan had greater effect... more events in the future...
Maybe tech gains... dissent levels... etc. ...

Yeah, I do that too. The problem is of course when I upgrade to the next version of Core, I can't use the saved game. Part of the fun I guess
About the industrialization... Those events are more for the AI then for players.
While those are surely handy (less clicks to do to upgrade provinces),they upgrade only the provinces behind Volga river and only close to 1-3 IC value. What's more, AI is not very good in dealing with too high IC, so making those events more "IC effective" can have bad effects on AI controlled USSR (not enough resources to support it).
So, if you want to upgrade more provinces - go ahead. Most of the upgradable ones are located on the west bank of the Volga River, on the Bielorussia and the Ukraine.
