Pshhh. A vanilla event that only one person's run into? Doesn't sound like it fires very often... Release it now, I say!

I don't feel that way.

And given the ratio of the number of people like you to the number of people saying "Now! Now! Now!", it seems pretty obvious that "most people" don't feel that way, either.

I don't mind at all if it is buggy, as long as they say up-front "hey, this version is a little buggy, but there is a better one on the way".

We have been saying that and there has been buggy versions available. Though you have to be a Beta to play them. :)

Good news is that I've just uploaded Release Candidate 2, which will hopefully be the last version for testing. So, let's say before the end of next weekend? Hopefully we feel confident enough about it to release it before the weekend, so you all can enjoy it then.

That sounds a little discriminatory to me. When, oh when, will we live in a society where Beta Testers and regular people are treated equally? Why must you divide us into classes, rather than uniting us? Really... it's a social justice issue.

(You're going to take that the wrong way, aren't you?) :p

Hi,

Being a Beta is not all that it is cracked up to be. We made so many changes to the economic package that a number of nations just crashed and burned during early testing. I took about a month of testing to even get something that resembled a playable version.

re: the CTD issue it was far more than 1 report. Basically the game would CTD every time GER went to war with DEN. This didn't happen until late in the testing and I have no idea why it suddenly became an issue. But that had to be fixed before we could release.

That's OK... I don't have to go to war with Denmark... :(

Next weekend will be probably the only weekend I have time enough to play HoI2 for a while, so of course I really hope that it will be released until then.

However, if you don't manage to get it ready until then, for whatever reasons, I won't complain.

I really appreciate what you are doing and what amount of time and work you put into CORE.

Come on people you are talking about something free that people bust their rears to get right. If you paid for it I could understand but this is a project these people put their free time into make. The Devs could keep it to themselves but instead they rely on a few donations to keep up the website and allow anyone to download it for free. Even those who complain.

Seriously don't complain about how long it takes to get this out when they offer it for free. Don't ruin a good thing. If this guys get tired of people like you not appreciating the work and demanding them to get things out when you want it they will stop doing this. So unless you want to pay for the good you don't have a right to complain about how long it takes. This is not a for profit enterprise. If you want CORE to follow deadlines then expect to pay for it. Until then be grateful these people are willing to share their great designs and the fruit of their labor with you. They could after all keep all of this to themselves and have no obligation to provide this mod for free.

The people who constantly say now, now, now just reminds me of kind on Christmas morning how gets a toy fire truck and ask why there are not fireman to go with it. I am very anxious to see the new economic system which I made some comments about to help the devs but took no part in developing. I am anxious to play with the new techs but I realize these guys are providing this free and using their free time to provide the software. They are not getting compensated other than the few who express gratitude. There are not many of us who would bust our rears for something we are giving away for free.

So sit back and wait. When you start paying for the mod you can complain all you want. Until then don't look at gift horse in the mouth. Don't express displeasure because of your impatience and think these people don't notice it and might something just get tired of jackasses who won't do anything to help complaining about how long it takes and quit the project altogether.

I for one have nothing but gratitude for the devs. If I am ever critical it is on an issue that the devs may have discussed as being a problem and only because I believe I can add something that might the package better. Thank you guys for putting the work and withstanding the criticism so we can play the mod for free.

I have a question mainly for dec15... as he seems to be a navy guy, but anybody can probably answer this. What are the approx build times and costs of naval units. I kind of get bothered by some mods where I can produce carriers and battleships in a year and a half, which unless you were the US late in the war is pretty unrealistic. Please tell me that if I want to build a navy I have to plan for it some years in advance to the detriment of my army/AF.

It's a sort of darwinian selection: people that don't manage to wait don't deserve to play core... ;)

Guys, you are wonderful! You can take all the time you need, we'll remain devoted supporters!

I am not a CORE developer or beta tester, so I can not speak for the new version coming up, but in 0.25 ship building times were much longer compared to the vanilla game. So, yes, you have to plan some years in advance, and you can't build a strong navy from nothing in 18 month (except an U boat fleet). I don't expect this to change much in the new version.

The build time of Battleships and Carriers varies based on the stage of your research and model type (as do those for other units as a whole), but both will take you about three years or so within CORE.

Hi,

Yes, it will take a long time to build heavy fleet units. I've tweaked the build times up even a bit more from 0.25 to comply with some changes to the EXE and I think the times in game are pretty close to the RW ones. So plan ahead if you want a fleet!
