I am getting prepared for reworking Cordoba. Most of the file is great, but there will be a few changes, including the Seville change that Calipah suggests.

One of the biggies is how the Infidel King sequence will be restructured. It has to be different, because Gaul is different in Aberration II.

My proposal is as follows:

1. How it Sets Up

There will need to be a number of prerequisites. First, Cordoba has to be Mutazelite and have chosen earlier to have greater religious freedom within the Sultanate. This would effect its Innovative scroe and also mean that a number of covserion-reversal events would occur for Catholic-Iberian provinces in north Spain.

2. Reformation Must be Specific

The next phase is that the reformation in Gaul has to have played out in a specific way. The key triggers are that:

a. No Occitania, protestant or catholic
b. Savoy is Catholic
c. France is Catholic, if it exists
d. It cannot already own provinces east of the Pyrenees

3. Sets Into Motion the Final Sequence

If steps one and two have occured, then the reformation era protestant revolt events for Savoy and/or France result in secession of key provinces to Cordoba, and cores on many others. THEN, if Cordoba owns certain Occitan provinces it triggers the final phase, a choice for the Sultan:

Choice A: Establish a Protestant Occitan puppet, with events to maintain the relationship between them in between 100 and 180 so that they stay a vassal and can't be annexed by the ai.

Choice B: Keep the provinces, get cores and gain Occitan culture, but also waken events that prevent these provinces ever converting from protestant.

Thoughts?

Can the AI ever annex the vassal state anyway, if it is Protestant?

Also, what about an additional option allowing for Cordoba trying to expand Islam over the mountains into Gaul and perhaps later on activating a Muslim Occitan puppet state? This is one we'd kicked around before, I know, but it's an interesting option I think..... call it the "Sultanate of al-Aquitan" or something similarly suitable to the area....

Emirate of Aquintine - Sultanate is too "Kingdomish" for a Muslim Petty State in France.

Thanks for the reminder on religion and diploannexation. Duh. But it still needs events to raise relations which will tend swiftly downward.

And the Occitanian state in Gaul is actually what's being discussed here. That's why Occitania cannot exists already for the Infidel King events to occur.

Thanks!

I prefer not Acquitaine, as the AQU tag is for Guyenne. Plus, the idea is that it will be Occitanian culture with no Occitan yet in the game, so let's make it the Emirate of Occitan.

That's what the event will call it, but it will simply wake Occitania with a new monarch list, perhaps. That way there can't also be Occitania formed somehow in the game.
