I played a game as Egypt and wanted to create a Coptic empire, and I was a bit annoyed when I culture switched and my Pyramid stopped working because the requirement is Egyptian culture only.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the background of the cultures, but I thought the Coptic culture was the Hellenized/Christian Egyptian culture in the same way that Egyptian is the Arabized/Islamic Egyptian culture. Is there a reason why the latter has a reason to be able to use/build Pyramids when the former does not?

It's especially insulting since the Copts speak Egyptian. I mean, at this point in history, most Egyptians of either religion spoke Egyptian, but as time went on the Copts stuck to it. Really, the Coptic culture in-game represents places where Coptic/Egyptian was still widely spoken. On that note, they should probably use Arab portraits like the Egyptians, but Greek or East African clothes.
