This is specially to the devs.

What about opening up some kind of channel through which players can contribute with small stories for events and quests?

We give the ideas, write most of the texts and options, and you add in the effects and balancing. Players would make so by following a specific form that would make it easy for devs to read and implement what they like.

This would be specially interesting for exploration events. All the many interesting, rich and random stuff that could be found on a galaxy can't be properly pre-written just by you devs. Just like in Cities: Skylines and Steam Workshop stuff.

Opening this up for Steam Workshop in a way that doesn't require everyone to know how to mod the text files (Just like Cities has an inbuilt asset creator), would be great too.

An galaxy can be huge and alien. Making it feel new and diverse every time would require a great ammount of creative work - much more than a historical setting in which you work under much more parameters.
