On the other hand Chinese states are cool and I like Chinese language and so on but oh my God: Chu, Huai, Jin, Wu, Liang, Min, Ning, Qi, Qin, Shu, Shun, Tang, Xi, Yan, Yue, Zhou, Miao, Dali, Changsehng, Yi. I wonder if Chinese people have similar mindf**** while looking at maps of Slavic countries.

At least they're short and easy to remember, which cannot be said of many other place names...

They should either use Egypt, Deccan, Turkestan and Turkey as substitute or change it into "dynasty" "government type" because now its like they are some kind of horde.

Mamluks shoud stay imo. It was not a dynasty. Maybe an event, if it happenes that they become a republic the name is changed, but thats so unlikely that it doesn't really matter.

Yes, of course. But so is de Valoise for France, Habsburgs for Austria etc. Since the dynasty name is not connected with the name of the country, there is no reason for changing the name.

I love that Muscovy / Russia / Novgorod has a province called Beloozero. I am constantly thinking "BELOOOW ZERO" every time I see it. Especially since it's usually having a severe winter.

I had an idea for a Crusader Kings Rurikovich AAR entitled "Six Degrees Beloozero". Unfortunately I don't write AARs.

Res publica would be probably the closest equivalent, "republic" is a more modern translation of the term. Incidentally I feel it'd be a decent replacement for the Commonwealth, without being as confusing as "republic" would.

Or La Plata in Chile, yes. Never said that we don't need a way to ensure more nations are born from those Colonial Regions, but the UPCA was a real nation, while The Caribbeans weren't.

Once when I was on Polcon there was and English author Peter V. Brett here. I went to him for an autograph and when he asked what my name is I said as a joke 'Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz'.

My name is so complicated that it gives similar reactions. I remember buying a train ticket once. Even with my ID a seller had to write my name 3 times before she did it correctly. It's great feeling to have Hungarian ancestors
