Coolest/worst names of countries

Names I like for various reasons:
I really like Vijayanagar
Khorasan
Bundelkhand
Mysore
Malabar
Jaisalmer
Kong
Chachapoya (both pronounciation and meaning)
Lanfang
Ramazan
Transylvania
Gondwana
Wanka (bad humor I know but...)
Wrong game but I like the duchy of Dandakaranya in CK2 too.
Province names:
Middag (at least for those of us who speak Swedish).
Haha (no comment needed I think)
Pamir (I just like this name).

When I get away from countries that are just fun to say, and think country names that really sound cool, Zazzau is top dog. I probably pronounce it wrong anyway, but it sure rolls off the tongue as though it's a really cool nation.

Looks like I know what I'll be doing when I buy El Dorado!Nah, we definitely need Rastafarian in the Nation designer. Also, we need an achievement or a mission for the Caribbean nation similar to the "recover our cultural heritage" mission that Japan gets (btw, kudos to the devs. Had to chuckle

Baluchistan. Dont know how, but the name is just perfecty filling in the expectation I have of a Persian eastern mysterious land.
Probably my favorite sounding province would be Gascogne or Burgogne. Next would be the provinces that sound like regular words, Armor, Berry, Wien (I saw wine when I first saw it, and the province makes wine). Lincoln is my favorite President, so special mention to Lincoln province.
Some of my ancestors were Anishinabe Chippewa (and I live in the in-game Potawatomi province), so I have a soft spot for Potawatomi, Michigan, or any of the other provinces around the Great Lakes. Any colonization game will see me make a play for the Great Lakes.

Ha ha, that is so obscure it has to be coincidence. (However if I heard of 420 years ago as a non-smoker halfway across the country, it might have penetrated the wider culture, like, because internet.)

I only learned while writing the NI ideas that both the Zapotecs and Chachapoya were known as the people of the clouds... and both have awesome names. Coincidence???
Honestly I like all the Mesoamerican and Andean country names, other than Cocomes and Huyla. They all feel so different.
Always since AoW came out (dunno if it was there before) I felt there should be an achievement along the lines of
- As a nation in the Indian tech group successfully defend the province of Lucknow against a Western tech group nation's army of at least 20.000 men
Not that the battle would be terribly difficult or require much luck outside of making it happen in the first place, but the name made me giggle every time the first few games in India.

He's probably having problems with how to pronounce the names. :/
Or Swabian. Or Frankish. Guess it's the same in most Germanic languages. BTW, i'm hungry.
It's not that it would conflict with the Netherlands, but with the first interpretation of the name. I would always feel rather odd about it, half expecting them to speak some mishmash of Dutch and Spanish and all living in cities with canals and dikes (even when other options are available). Maybe it's just me...

I think that many Slavic players chuckled a bit when they saw the province od "Chuy".
If You change the letter "y" to "j"... well, google (translate maybe) it. I think I'm not allowed to post such words here.
chrząszcz is (I think) the longest single syllable word in polish (the vowel is "ą" ofc).
Fun fact: there is a legend than one of Our kings, when he wanted to get rid of germans in Krakow, cut head of everyone who was not able to pronounce this sentence.
"Soczewica, koło, miele młyn" - "lentil, wheel, mill grinds" was shibboleth used by mob in Krakow, during anti-German pogroms inspired by Polish king Wladyslaw Łokietek (Cubit). See wiki for "Rebellion of mayor Albert".
