Convoys why do they always get them wrong?

I've found them a real pain to deal with in heavier mechs... I had one map on a desert planet that had 3 different possible routes for the convey to take and no clear indication which way they'd go until they were triggered.

I'd honestly be happy with something as simple as having the destination being displayed prior to spawning, or waiting 1 round so I could get a chance to maneuver my mechs before they sprinted off. It's the fact that they act first, and I feel like I'm chasing them around the map, that I hate.
