Convoys and Supply Depots

Is it possible to create supply depots on Pacific Islands (for example), from which convoys to forward bases can originate? seems quite realistic(conserving shipping and offering greater protection in larger convoys), but playing as the US I can't originate supply convoys from Pearl or Midway onward to Guam, etc. Is there any way of circumventing this?

No it does not.
The system will only let you originate supply convoys from ports that have a continuous land link to your capital.
HOI 1 allowed the creation of supply and resource caches.
