Convoy issue

So, here I am playing my Nationalist Spain game , putting a beating on the UK in Venezuela, when all of a sudden they start owning me. A quick glance at my supply depot shows no supplies. NP, I can manually set up a convoy, right? WRONG! I have -365 convoys at my disposal. WTF! I have 15 divisions that will get whiped out. Anyone know what happened?

Using manual control, set all your convoy routes to zero to learn how many convoys you really have. There is no such thing as -365 convoys. The worst you could have is none. As regards what the AI may have done to give you a -365 reading I have no idea.

What is that supposed to mean? You playing N. Spain, right? How can UK or Venezuela "own you"? From what I can surmise from your description, you have 15 N. Spain divisions in Venezuela fighting the UK there, and your supply point has no supplies. Did you DOW Venezuela or they are allied with you? It can make quite a difference regarding your supply needs; and maybe possibly explain your rather strange report of "-365 convoys at your disposal" (although I am not sure how that could be explained).

I assure you there is such a thing. Before I cancelled all my trades and supply routes, it was -700+. My theory is the UK targeted my convoys to/from Germany before France fell, but I'm not sure why it didn't shut things down until now. My loss chart shows over 500 convoys destroyed, which is funny because I had less than 200 to start with.

I have an AAR started and that was what I was referring to. I annexed Venezuela early on and now the UK AI has apparently set their sights on it. (25+ divisions, half of which I had destroyed prior to noticing my supply issue.

The problem is the the combination that trade and supply convoys use transports. The solution to you problem would be to liberate venezuela as a puppet. They make supplies and give you "some" oil aswell.

This may solve the Venezuela issue, but the amount of IC I would have to devote to replacing all those convoys in a reasonable amount of time would cripple my production. I was playing ahead a bit before I updated my AAR, but now I wonder if I need to start over again?

Are you sure? Or is it actually - when you go to Trade Tab - what looks like a perfect negative sign infront of the Convoy Escort number but is actually a part of the picture of the Escort ship (kind of a detached railing above the bow). Howver, going deeper into any convoy to adjust the # of transports or escorts it immediately becomes evident all is in the positive.

Perhaps I have just been lucky to not run into the abberation of a true negative number displayed. Of course, being AoD I would not doubt your claim. It's a Paradox!

That is your choice. I would not mind for you to restart. But i hope that you will prove perseverance in the third attempt than. Starting over and over gain any few days should not become a habit.

I would rather NOT restart. I can't sustain any overseas campaigns until I replace my convoys and that is going to take a while with my limited IC. Am I just out of luck or is there a way to fix this?

You could cheat. Use F12 to open the cheat console, type transports, click return and you will have 100 more. This can be repeated as often as you like. But do your self the favour to have a closer look at your convoys. Losing 500 as spain is a lot.

That sounds like a good idea to return my convoys to around zero. I can rebuild from there.

I'm pretty sure they were hit by the UK prior to france falling, since all my trades with Germany had to pass right by their island. The use of convoys for trade is a change I missed from HOI2.
