Hi guys, I'm looking for some advice - in my Ironman career playthrough I'm at the end of a convoy escort mission and the convoy has stopped moving (it doesn't even get an 'Ally turn' phase):

(This happens at the 50 minute mark ish)

I'm hoping to pick the campaign up again later today and I'm hoping that just reloading the save will fix things. If not, is hitting the 'Withdraw' button the only thing I can do here? I'm wondering if maybe I just got too far away from them and if I send back one of the mechs to herd them they'll get moving again?

That seems to work for me. Just send a mech back to the stalled convoy, and they should start moving again.

What I tend to do on Escort Missions, is have a mech hang back and shadow the convoy while 3 other mechs scout forward. This helps keep the convoy moving together. The mech I keep back for convoy duty tends to be a mech with a long range support loadout (especially indirect support like LRMs so that it can always contribute to the fight).

This tends to work the best for me.

I played a mission yesterday that strongly "implied" that the "closeness" you have to maintain with the Convoy units is related to the speed of the Convoy unit. You can be further away from the faster wheeled APCs and must be closer to the Vargyr. Don't quote me on this but it certainly appeared that way to me.

Well, I don't know for sure if that was the issue with that particular mission as somehow my ironman save was from before that mission?!? I'm sure I didn't save the game in a different way to usual, I wonder if it's possible to save during a mission in ironman mode?

The mission was set up in exactly the same way as before, this time I kept a mech close and the transports didn't stop at any point so it's likely that having my mechs too far away from the convoy was the original issue.
