so heres something that actually happens a lot in my games

my unwed brother gets a lover whos a dirty heathen, and i marry them since its more babies for the dynasty. i do some conquering and land him, and he decides to politely request she follow the true faith. a bit later, she gets caught out secretly practicing her old faith, and gets excommunicated. my brother imprisons and executes her, and then immediately becomes depressed like "i miss my dead wife :C" when hes the dumb motherfucker who killed her

now, honestly, my brother should have just picked the "....so?" option when his wife got caught out, since he loves her, but the pope just loves excommunicating so sometimes the character in question wont be an accused apostate. if the ai likes someone enough, they should be more concerned with lifting the excommunication than with immediately burning them at the stake. so often i see half the christian world branded kinslayers because their son and heir got excommunicated and they just immediately threw them on the pyre, which seems kind of silly unless the character is a raging zealot

opinion and zealousness should definitely be factors in whether or not a character decides to off someone just because the pope doesnt like them anymore. itd be a decent stop-gap until we can actually convince the pope to stop being like that for five minutes

yeah, theres a lot of weird inconsistencies with that; like if you have a gay kid and are gay yourself, your only options are "its just a phase" or to literally "beat the gay out of them"

a lot of events and AI behaviour in general needs to be redone to factor in AI relations, both social and familial, both in the options the AI chooses, as well as the options available.

itd be a lot of work, but im tired of 2 months after inviting over a prince/princess of China my chaplain deciding they need to be hung for being born a dirty heathen (and they *arent* secretly their old religion, ive even gone into save edits to make sure, its just that they were at *some point* not the current religion).

or more to the point of this post; spending the grace to get my heir a nice princess to pop out kids with until i die, only for him to imprison and execute her a few months later
