Yeah, I did an old CC-EU2-Vicky-HOI2 conversion and the reality kind of sucked unless the player hopped around and tried to help underdogs in order to get a more historic outcome.
seems reasonable to me. closest anyone ever came to taking over the world was probably the British empire, after all, and they were hardly already dominant at the end of Crusader Kings. things like that.
it's not really for those who want to take over everything they can in every game, i think. more for those who do like hoping around, or who's skill better matches the difficulty.
in some EU3 games I've achieved a lot, but I've had more than a few actually end in situations that'd make sense for a victoria like game, i think.
not to mention the number of major wars that tend to start in the last couple of years in the game and have barely even going going, let alone come near being resolved, by the time the game ends.
still, if the games are designed to be converted, i think EU3 would need a few more internal issues once you get large enough, to reduce instances of even the player blobbing. but then it would be less awesome.
so, yeah... depends what you do i guess. some games are great for converting, some are just rubbish. [super-Burgundy + empire inheriting/diplo-annexing (i forget which) the entire (bigger than historic) French empire in one of my earlier (unexpanded) EU3 games would not a good conversion make, for all that it was basically ww1 already
