Okay, need some clarification here.

I've seen the term "converting POPs" here on the forum, and I think in the manual. But, I'm not sure what this means. Does this refer to something the AI does automatically as your industry and economy develops, or is this something you can do manually -- converting a laborer to a clerk, etc.?

It would be handy at times to be able to do this yourself, but if it's possible, I haven't seen how . . . .

Just drill down to the interface dealie that lists individual pops. Click on one to bring up details. There will be buttons there that let you switch them from one activity to another.

You can't make Capitalists or Aristocrats this way. And you need resources to promote POPs from Laborer/Farmer to any skilled work. But you can turn just about anyone into Soldiers. Or demote them to Laborers/Farmers.

Ooh, I knew you could make capitalists, but I've never noticed where. *Goes off on a capitalist promoting rampage*
