Converting HIP - EU4

Is there something I`m missing? The FAQ states that you convert it as usual, but I'm unable to do that. It does go through the export sequence, but the new version does not show up in the EU IV launcher, nor does the new folder show up in the right place.

Okay, it shows up in Crusader Kings II\HIP\eu4_export, I'll just move that.

It goes without saying, or so i thought. The converter won't convert HIP+SWMH games without you doing a significant amount of work yourself.

SWMH have never had a working CK2->EU4 converter

Neat! If you guys need some insight on the mess of the converter or hints what have you, that feel free to poke me. I've worked on it for quite a while.

I don't blame you haha. The converter, or specifically the province assignments, are such a thankless and menial task D: And that's assuming the damn thing even wants to play ball with you.

I've had the same issue as LittleJP has for literal years, even with base CK2.

How well does a non-SWMH HIP game convert to EU4? Thinking with the new update (updates as I didn't play with the last one) I'm going to start a new game. Would hate to lose SWMH but want to try a grand game, going from CK into EU then Vic and the HoI.

Hmm, good point/question. The new religion update from EMF is going to throw a wrench into EU4 conversion even when using the vanilla map. YMMV.

Personally, I've got no interest [at least for now] in maintaining the EU4 converter. It's not because I don't think the idea of conversion to EU4 is neat-- it's a) most folks play EMF+SWMH, b) my time is scarce, and c) the Converter support in the game for mods-- though even for vanilla, at times-- is piss-poor, and it'd be no fun for me dealing with all those undocumented non-WAD behaviors/bugs (and just not a good use of my specializations).

An EU4 converter sub-mod for EMF+Vanilla (or EMF+SWMH!) is always welcome from the community and, presuming it worked well, would probably quickly lead to promotion to HIP proper, provided the maintainer intended on sticking around for awhile.
