Not basetax, just number of provinces. Then just accept demands of religious rebels.

I have a Sunni Poland in the HRE right now. (Tatar is a fully accepted culture.) It's taking me a while to convert Lithuania though...

I had the impression it was changed so that rebels could not force convert you outside of your current religious group.

Guess it was just made more difficult to happen (the 50% plus in # of provinces) ?

Depends on the religious group and country actually. Usually it's just 50% of provinces -> accept demands. If you're Japan you can never leave Shinto, though. (Actually that's the only exception I know.)

Hopefully it'll be religious rebels that spawn in Berber land or Granada, then, once I feed and annex vassals across the sea.

You can ensure it is religious rebels by putting a missionary on them. For example when conquering Crimea as Poland I would get ~11% revolt risk, nationalist. But if put on a missionary it changes to ~17% religious.

The only annoyance is that vassals will try to fight them for you. :( However vassals will prioritize external threats first. Also you can sell Catholic provinces to your vassals to swing the numbers, then annex to get them back.

I already subjugated Tunisia in the first war with Granada and fed them all the cheap Algiers provinces in the next war; Over relations cap now with the PU forming with Aragon/Naples - I'll have to hold onto the former until Admin 10, though come to think of it, I need to make sure the decision doesn't require being Catholic. I'll probably just use the Reconquista quest to core Ceuta (silly portugal lost it in their own war) and Oran myself and feed the rest to Tunisia - I'm gonna need Ifni and access to Egypt.

How did you get Sunni Poland? Conquer Crimea and then let the zealots do the rest?

@#$@#@#$% overpowered religious rebel @#$@# almost wrecked my whole country. Got to love chasing rebels through 7 provinces to finish them off.

Still, managed it, even holding onto the PUs. amusingly, forming spain doesn't require that you be christian

Western tech without westernizing, receiving max impious bonus is spiffy. I think Naples is, for some reason, able to deny integration of the union due to being cross-religious group? Oh well. Maybe I'll inherit.

Portugal has been failing at colonizing. Decided to smack them down, take 3 home provinces and all 3 colonies they had. Looks like Caribbean and South America is all mine.

Yes, this. As Ottomans I once got a PU over Granada, fed them some Catholic provinces, and then Catholic rebels converted Granada to Catholic. I could never use integrate after that; it was always refused.

No idea if this applies to inheritance too.

Well, it shows a 2% chance to inherit. My legitimacy has been trash ever since sitting at -3 stability regency for a decade (thank you, @#$#--@#$#ing events), and I haven't been offered a +1 statesman all game (thank you, overseas diplo-annexations) so I can't do much to boost my reputation to see; went Expansion first, not sure if I will get Diplomacy or Exploration as 4th idea. At least Aragon can't avoid being inherited via the Spain decision. I don't really care if I get Naples or not, since Aragon controls the 2 Islam provinces - if I decide to attempt unification, which I might as well seeing as I control the hardest ones already and am in a superior tech group - but one way or another they need to leave my relations limit

It doesn't affect inheritance. In my last game as Russia, Crimea converted to Orthodox and engaged in PU with me. After 50 years when I was looking forward to integrate them, I find that they have converted back to sunni and they reject the integration process as soon as it starts. Luckily I had good diplomatic reputation and sat with around 15% chance of inheritance. After around 20 years, Crimea finally was inherited.

Actually I'm starting to notice how amazing diplo-vassalizing is as Muslim Poland. All those central Asian sultanates are just falling under my thumb. Managed to cut Muscovy off in that game and I'm pretty sure I can have all of Asian and Africa conquered by 1600. Or if not, I would if I had gone Expansion earlier (took 2 military groups but I really only needed 1 to beat up on Russia) for the extra rep bonus.

The best part is I still have my RMs with Castile, Austria, and Hungary from before I converted. I almost got Castile in a PU but heir was born with 50+ yo monarch. =/

But Japan itself can never convert. It has to be via Catholic daimyo -> Japan. Shinto Japan will be Shinto forever.

As you all know, these religious rebels obviously, after having destroyed the entire nations military and conquered each of its towns and cities, and readied themselved to slaughter their ruling class to bring in a new age of Christianity. Instead, for some reason, they just decide to go home.

Anyone know the reason why it needs to be >%50 provinces as well? When they've conquered your nation, surely they've conquered your nation? Instead, all that happens in such cases is you lose stability. I can see why it would be impossible to simply accept their demands to convert, but why do the religious rebels, having taken over your country, decide to pack it in and go home?
