Continuing save games after recent patch.

Is there any problems continuing my current game after the new patch or is it better to start over again? Also in the future how do I prevent steam from updating the game till I decide I want to? There does not see to be an option to not update games anymore in steam.

If it was started under 1.8 then it should be fine under 1.8.1 . If under 1.7.3, not so much.

Steam have renamed the "don't update" function to reflect it's true nature; the choice is now "always keep this game up to date" or "only update this game when I launch it", which is the way it always worked. The only way to stop it updating altogether is to put Steam in offline mode, or copy the whole Steam/EU4 folder somewhere else and use that copy. Both those options prevent MP and Ironman.

Copying EU4 out of folder works now? Cuase as I remember it caused crashes.
