I finished all the campaign missions, and now would really like to continue playing on my creations in sandbox mode, but there doesn't seem to be an option to continue playing campaign maps? Or am I missing the option somewhere?

I'd like this too. (although, I'm nowhere near finishing the campaign yet...) I haven't seen this possibility anywhere, but I hope it excists, or if not, that it can be added.

Definitely agree. It would be nice if the dialog when you complete the objective offers a "continue as sandbox" type option. I found I had plans for "once this line is done I'll develop that area over there" and then found I'd completed the mission, and couldn't develop those plans without restarting the map in sandbox and having to start from scratch.

To answer myself :) There is actually a way.
When you finish a campaign mission and get the 'Thank you' pop-up, you can still save the game by opening the game-menu with your mouse (esc doesn't work).
If you then load this game from the main-menu, the campagin-objective on the left of your screen will be closed (and showing 0%). As long as you don't open the objective you can continue playing the map. If you dó click it, you get the mission-succesfull pop-up again and thrown back to the main menu.

Not ideal, but at least there is a way.

Thanks for this little workaround.

I'd still love for the option to continue campaign maps in sandbox after beating the campaign.

Just as a little extra, if you didn't save yourself at the end of a campaign mission, the game automatically saves at that point. Now you can't load them directly, but if you copy those savegames from :
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\LocalLow\Colossal Order\Cities in Motion 2\Campaign\default
to the actual savegame-location :
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\LocalLow\Colossal Order\Cities in Motion 2\Saves

you can load them up again, and continue playing them sanbox-mode (using above mentioned "ignore the objective-box" trick)
