OK,
1517.
In 1517 Sweden finally broke from Denmark as its vassal and Denmark almost immediatley declared war on it. At the same time, England declared war on France sparking a war all over NW Europe. Taking an opportunity to carve up abit of Sweden I decided to declare war on Sweden almost immediatley after it declared its independance. (At this point my military alliances have expired.. and Denmark didn't want to join me)
Fighting to begin with was very easy. I captured several provinces, Karlina, Sakolo(sp?), Tavastland & Finland. However I too had taken some losses. So I decided to make a peace offering, they refused, I demanded too many provinces. Tired of the war, and losing men fast, I offered again and they accepted in March 1519, whilst I annexed Karlelina from them as part of negotiations.
A short war, perhaps I should have pushed on and won a stronger victory, though apparently i had won a 'total victory' and should have received 2 provinces or 200D.
After this war I began to expand my colonies in Kola, Far Karelina and Arkhaselsk, adding Bailiffs and generally strengthening my position within my current boundaries.
Following on in 1520 I made a military alliance with Bohemia and Denmark again, Hungary so far has not wanted to join us, probably because they didn't get any provinces as reward doing the Polish war, too bad They had 3.5 years to take Krakow / Posen but they didn't.
I now started eyeing off what was rest of the Teutonic order. Decided on a 2nd and finally war against the Germans. My aim was to completley annex them out of independant existance
I began preparations for war in Oct of 1520, but decided to cut them short and declared war on April 10th 1521. They had 2 armies in the field, in their remaning 2 provinces, each 40k men. Needless to say outnumbering me by atleast 3:1. However I decided to take a chance thinking my army was up to it. I was right (partly ).
After a battle at Kurkland I besiged/assaulted Kurkland and took it on July 30th 1522. As you see too nearly a year of strong field warfare around Livonia, Kurkland and Pskov for me to finally have a clear shot at Kurkland.
After another major battle, where my army of 36,000 infantry and 3000 cavalry almost completley annhiliated 70,000 Germans, I moved into their last stronghold, the area i halted at during the first teuton war with them some years back. Their army now numbered in field, around 10,000 and was seriously weakend. I immediatley assaulted east Prussian territory and captured the city very easily on Sep 14th 1522, with my 30,000 army.
The remaining Teuton field army retreated into Belarus (once part of Poland, and now my territory after the last last war with Poland) and besieged the city - a waste of time in 2 days they had to retreat. I then offered them peace, both their remaining territories FIRMLY in my hands and with only one field army in tatters, they excepted. On 19th October 1522 I incorporated the remaning lands of the Teutonic order, East Prussia and Kurkland into Russia permanently.
Incidentally historically Poland did this only 3 years later in 1525
Now I'm cleaning up the various rebel scum that continously caused me problems in that area, at a time I thought they may lose me the war, however it was not to be
I absolutely _carved_ up Teutonic armies in the field, numbering 2:1, 3:1 at times. Heh what fun!
