In my game, the contingency arrived, it was a massive war effort from multiple fronts against them. Empires from different areas filled in small pockets. I saw this as an opportunity, found an unattended contingency conquered planet. Took it over, colonized. Ever since then, nothing has happened. The awakened is in a federation in the galaxy trying to fight them. The contingency warforms don't move out of their platforms. And on the other spectrum is an opposing federation that equals in power against the awakened federation. I am stuck in between, trying to build a fleet, can't afford to attack till I have a fleet.
