They raise now their flag in rebellion, anxious to bring their forgotten country into the annals of history once more!

Habsburg Spain

Trigger:
Austria and Spain have a Royal Marriage.
Austria and Spain are both Catholics.
Austria is HRE.
Austria is AI.
Austria and Spain have opposite gender rulers.
Year is 1550 or less.

Event Text:

When Joan the Mad and Philip von Habsburg were engaged little did Europe know that this would pave the way for one of history's most powerful blocs. Austria and Spain were united under one dynasty, the Habsburgs, who would rule the Holy Roman Empire and Spain with pride and zeal. This union reshaped history: from the shores of Cuba, to the ancient Aztec city of Tenochtitlan, all the way to Naples and Antwerp, the Habsburgs ruled it all with an iron fist, being the colonisers of America, the champions of Catholicism in Europe, and the very epitome of the Renaissance princes. Their fierce resistance and disdain for the Reformation led to the brutal Eighty and Thirty Years' wars, which eventually resulted in Habsburg defeat and sealed their fate, paving the way for the rise of France in continental Europe, yet their rule would leave a mark for centuries to come. Let us join our glorious dynasties and make the world tremble in fear and awe before the might of our combined power!

Option A: All hail the von Habsburgs!
Provinces in The Spanish Netherlands that Austria owns are ceded to Spain.
Spain becomes leader of PU with Austria.
Two armies of 12 Noble rebels each rise up in any province.
Spain becomes HRE.
Current heir dies.
A noble from house von Habsburg becomes heir to the throne.
Lose 30 legitimacy.

Option B: We need no foreigners, ¡viva España!
Gain 25 legitimacy.
Gain 1 stability.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I didn't write 'Castille/Spain', because I felt that it'd be too easy. Some players might find the event in its current iteration way too generous and this is a good way to make it harder to achieve.

Also, I don't know if the 'Spain becomes HRE' is possible to make. I don't know of any event that does that, so, it it's not possible just take it out.

Finally, I don't know if it's possible to make it so that a noble from a specific family becomes heir to the throne, so if it's impossible to do so feel free to take out the 'Current heir dies' and 'a noble from house von Habsburg succeeds to the throne' lines.

Event Name: Low Resource Diversity

Trigger:
You have a country of at least 4 provinces
More than 50 Percent of your provinces produce the same trade good.

Event Text:
My Lord, our nation is known for producing a high quantity of (trade good name). While some celebrate the production of (trade good name) as a symbol of our national identity, there are those that worry that our dependence on the production of (trade good here) will lead us to economic disaster if the price for it suddenly collapses. This national debate has reached your court. What are your thoughts on the matter?

Option A: Divest from (trade good name), certainly diversifying our assets will strengthen our markets.

Effect: Increased Trade Efficiency; one provinces switches from the same trade good to something new

Option B: The (trade good name) market is part of our way of life! No divestment is necessary!

Effect: Increased inflation; earn (x) amount of points towards your next national idea

Event Name: Blaise Pascal

Trigger : Must be Christian France and between 1640 and 1665. Must own Auvergne or a vassal of France owns Auvergne.

Event Text: Blaise Pascal was a mathematician, inventor and philosopher. This child prodigy worked in the field of the study of fluids, clarifying the concept of pressure, with his famous experiment on the top of Puy-de-Dôme. He also made important contributions to mathematics, such as Pascal's Triangle and Pascal's theorem and invented the first mechanical calculator, known as Pascaline.
Following a mystical experience in late 1654 he abandoned his scientific work, and devoted himself to philosophy and theology. Beginning in 1656, Pascal published his memorable attack on casuistry, a popular ethical method used by Catholic thinkers, defying both Louis XIV and Pope Alexander VII.

Option A : Let's hire this promising scientist !
Gain lv2 Natural scientist (with halved life span : he had very poor health and died pretty young)
+5 prestige
-20 Papal States opinion (+1/y)
if catholic, -5 papal influence

Option B : His theological Thoughts are great !
Gain lv2 Philosopher (with halved life span : he had very poor health and died pretty young)
+10 prestige
-50 Papal States opinion (+1/y)
if Catholic, -10 papal influence

Option C : What is this... thing ?! (Optional)
-1000 ducats
PDS provides an in-game calculator named Pascaline (it's so boring to make calculation on a paper or alt-tab to use the OS calculator ^^)

Event Title: Spreading Astronomical Panic

Background image: Comet sighted

Trigger: Any neighbor has lower stability than us. The MTTH is a bit lower (more likely to happen) if the neighbor has a heretical religion.

Event Text: My {monarch title}, the peasants of {neighbor country} have been panicked by superstitions beliefs that are beginning to spread among our peasants too. The common people fear that every heavenly sign they see in the night sky is a portent of impending doom, even when our astronomers have explanations for the occurrences.

Option A, limited to nations that have a Natural Scientist or Navigator advisor, or diplomatic tech of at least 14 (roughly corresponds to Tycho Brahe's study of the great comet of 1577):
Have our court astronomers publish a series of pamphlets to educate the people on the true nature of the astronomical phenomena.
Costs one month's income and 50 diplomatic power, but gain a diplomatic tech cost modifier of -10% for the next ten years.

Option B, limited to nations who have a Diplomat or Inquisitor advisor, or a monarch with Diplomatic skill of at least 4. The neighboring state's religion must be heretical from our perspective:
Accuse the ruler of {neighbor country} of having committed sins that offended heaven, and agitate our peasants against them.
-1 stablilty, -50 relations with neighbor (decaying over several years), gain one year's worth of manpower. A small revolt of religious rebels (of our state religion) rises in one of the neighbor's border provinces, as if sponsored by us. Neighbor gets a Diplomatic Insult CB against us and we get a Cleansing of Heresy CB against them.

Option C, limited to nations with a neighboring rival nation with stability equal to or higher than ours and either a Statesman or Spymaster advisor or ruler with Admin and Military skills both of at least 3:
Use the superstition for our own benefit, and spread the panic to our enemies.
-1 stability, trigger this event for higher stability rival, with us as the neighbor.

Option D, available for everyone:
There is nothing we can do about the signs in the heavens but pray.
-1 stability

I have already sent my event for this contest, but I'm very impressed with the story of Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_XIV_John_of_Sweden. May be, someone will make his event based on it? It is a good story and related to Sweden, so, I think, it will give you extra points, when Paradox will choose winners. In brief, if your king is old and has no heir, an enemy general can become your heir after war and establish a new dinasty. Probably, some date or form of government restrictions required. Can it be done technically (I mean, making a heir from enemy general)?

P.S. I've read the FAQ, but didn't understand, how can I make a normal indent? Where should I insert indent tag?

(Tentative) Event Title: PU Twister

Trigger: [Country X] is leading a PU with [country Y]. [Country X] has no heir.
(optional) The ruler of [country X] is old-ish (40+).

Event Text: Our king/queen has fallen gravely ill and even our finest doctors have little hope of him/her recovering again. Lacking any children of his/her own, the next in line for the throne is a distant cousin from [country Y]. Unfortunately this fool has made it clear in the past that s/he has little love for [country X] and prefers the [adjective of country Y] crown over our own. What shall we do?

Option A: For [country X]!
A random noble ascends to the throne of [country X] and a noble of the previous ruling dynasty ascends in [country y]. This ends the PU and triggers a war with each country trying to force the other back into a union.

Option B: We shall pray for a miracle!
20% The ruler of [country X] makes a miraculous recovery. (a.k.a. nothing happens or perhaps a small bonus to prestige/legitimacy/relations between the countries)
80% The PU ends and is replaced by a union wherein [country Y] is the senior and [country X] the junior partner.
----
This event is meant to spice up PUs a little which usually just tend to be one surefire way of cheap expansion. Admittedly, I haven't actually played EU IV yet but based on my experience with EU III and from what I've read on the forums, things haven't changed that much in the most recent iteration. So I figured, why not add some real danger there, especially if your junior partner is a powerful nation? Also, this could potentially make being the junior partner in a union not the worst thing in the world as this event gives you a shot at turning the tables. Some contingencies might be needed if country X is leading more than one union, though.
