Love the new tunnels feature. Still missing elevated metros because:
  • it's much funnier to watch trains going here and there while keeping an eye on the whole city :)
  • In some cases it's better to have metro bridges instead of tunnels when crossing rivers (like ones in Kiev, NYC, Moscow etc.). For instance, when river banks are too steep and a station is needed to be in close proximity to river
  • In real life a big part of metro network is elevated or at least is on ground level (see London and NYC as good examples of that)
  • Again, in real life to build a tunnel is much more costly than to build an elevated rail. I would prefer to have cost like this in C:S: train railway < elevated metro railway < metro tunnel < train tunnel
I'm agree that we need European buildings to increase diversity, not to reduce it. Also I want them in my current city without building a new one from scratch.

Deeply dissapointed to see that the saving crashes aren't listed as fixed.

I'll give the game a try later this week to see if they've been resolved.

The bug was properly reported like months ago, it makes the game unplayable. :(

Hello, thank you for the update. Really appreciated. As others have stressed I'd like to be able to use these European buildings in all my maps as doesn't that go against custom created maps? Also have a blend of variety of architecture in your city makes it more appealing. This shouldn't be restricted to one map. Also, love the tunnels. One gripe you can't go down them in first person mode? Which to me is pretty disappointing. Even in Cities XL you could do this. The fact they look black is also quite bland and would look better if you could see down them. Thank you for the update and bug fixes. These are my opinions, just like you I want the game to be the best. But I think these are fundamentals flaws in the updated DLC.

Going forward we aim to find a solution where we can work with our core modders pre-launch to give them ample time to adjust their creations before the public have access.

I think picking out 'special favorite mod authors' is a mistake. You're making way for the creation of a super special club full of big egos to thrive with no real benefit to anyone on the whole. Let there be an opt-in beta program for anyone who fancies themselves a modder and leave it at that. I've been through and a part of modding communities crossing multiple decades now and I've seen how badly egos can sour communities.

Wow, this is a real downer for me. The European skin does look gorgeous, but the patch doesn't fix a single of the isues I have with the game, and breaking Mods in the same step is a disaster. Things that I think need urgently fixing are:
- Deathwaves
- Traffic AI
- Non-upgrading office zones (completely unreasonable service demands for level 3 offices)
- Unrealistic inhabitant/worker/tourist numbers in buildings
- Road elemets that don't attach properly (roundabouts?)
- Parks that can't attach to buildings but need to go beside a road (or even better: zonable parks)

Thank you, CO!!!
What a wonderful patch! :)
I'm usually not for cheering but after spending only 20min figuring out which mod out of 1220 (!!) workshop items was crashing the game, I got it running and my city now has it first tunnel!
For those like me who can't wait to play and do need mods, the [ARIS] mods and the Improved Content Manager (or Asset Panel) are causing some problems with the new update. So unsubscribe to them for now and wait until they get update.
Cheers to CO that made an update compatible to game changing mods like Traffic ++! :D

I'm getting started with the one below. Still haven't made it spawn in-game yet, though it's been successfully saved as an asset.

@TotalyMoo Could you get one of your awesome game engineers to shed some light on how to make the custom trains spawn in-game?

To be honest, I am very, very disappointed in this. These are nice buildings, but there is absolutely no way for me to control where I want them. The fact that you cant plob buildings (residental, commercial...) has stopped me to even play this game.

If you chose to use these European buildings, it means that your city will ONLY have them, and that is a ridiculously stupid decision by CO. I can't see any logical answer why we can't have plobbable residental, industrial and commerce. Right now i can't make the cities that i wan't.

It would be nice to have old town area with these wall to wall buildings, some modern suburbs with nearly identical buildings and so on, but no.
There should be own zoning areas for different themed of buildings, there should be easier way to limit buildings level up (I know that there is a mod for that but you have to go trough every single building).

Please, correct me if I am wrong.:(

Concerning plopping each building individually, this isn't really the design intention of Cities: Skylines as the game is meant to be a simulator. Although I definitely understand the joy that comes from carefully designing each city block to perfection, it's probably not something that CO is going to design the game around. Many players have said that this type of gameplay was unenjoyable in other city builders (like Cities XL for example), so we are basing this off of feedback.

Hello, thank you for the update. Really appreciated. As others have stressed I'd like to be able to use these European buildings in all my maps as doesn't that go against custom created maps? These are my opinions, just like you I want the game to be the best. But I think these are fundamentals flaws in the updated DLC.

As for the feedback concerning European buildings being limited to a biome (and tunnels), we appreciate it! I can see from the many comments in this thread that it is disappointing to you. CO certainly didn't intend to disappoint, as they worked hard to make something new for you. I hope you believe that. As we do with all feedback, it will be heard and considered. I'm not promising it will change, but we DO value your feedback. Please continue posting constructively, thanks!

"saving crashes" is a very broad term that many people use to describe a whole host of issues. Some people give us detailed information, and we look into it and try to find fixes. Others simply say their game crashes, and then later we find out it's because they are trying to run the game on a computer far below minimum requirements. Or maybe it was a mod conflict. Or possibly they closed Steam before it could properly save to the Cloud. So many reasons, but often times people just assume it's all one cause.

My point is that we have been fixing the most serious technical issues of Cities: Skylines. Please be more specific as to what "saving crashes" you are experiencing =) We genuinely want to fix any technical problems you are experiencing, but we need your help to do so!

You bring up a good point, but our main goal here isn't to select or prioritize mods. In a way, the community is doing that by subscribing. These are the most popular mods, therefore they're going to give people the most trouble when they don't work correctly, which leads to more people coming to us asking why their game doesn't work. Thank you for your suggestion though, I'll pass it along and see what the pros/cons of doing so would be.

Okay, I ran the game without any launch option and it worked without problems. Tho, I use only few mods, listed here:

Extended Public Transport UI
HideUI
First Person Camera
Multi Track Station Enabler

I have other mods but I generally activate them only when needed, such as the 25 tile mod I use when i am ready to advance past 9.
I think the mods that don't touch the managers are generally safe to use.

Now, after playing a bit with the asset editor, I have to make a huge complain:

it's not just that the thumbnail icons IS NOT FIXED: the problem is that seems CO think we are stupid.

CO decided to use fixed images depending on the type of building, so, instead of having that white ugly icon, we have, in example for parks, the same park image for all park we create?

This is a joke, and I cannot believe CO didn't understood that making this is a bad approach to the gamers: we love the game, but you cannot joke us.

We still need the thumbnail icons in the asset editor. There are tons of opensource software to manage jpg/png/gif files programmatically, so you can sure extract the REAL image from the snapshot.

I know, the transparent background is a problem. You have to find a solution, the simplest is just use a fixed background and get rid of transparency.

Sorry if I was a bit rude now, cause I actually fully supported the game and the devs, but I didn't expected to see such thing in a patch, where something is shown as a solution while it's obviously not true.

Would have been better to say us "hey, we need some more time for the thumbnails icons, be patience" than giving us something that's clearly a fake.

Have no issues with the European buildings being another map (70+ more buildings in addition to the existing ones would probably cause performance issues and raise the minimum specs required).
Tunnels are great, thank you!

But was hoping gameplay/simulation issues would be fixed with this update. It's the main thing that's keeping me from going back to play CS at the moment.
- Deathwaves
- Education to overpowering, decimates manufacturing/industrial sector
- Trains clogging up railways when exporting goods
- Bus stations filling up with too many ppl when it can't meet the demand
- Skyscraperfest, no more lvl 1-2 buildings because leveling to easily fulfilled, making overly utopian unrealistic cities

CO please please make improvements to the game simulation and gameplay, all the new content in the world won't make a difference if we still play with these annoying gameplay issues.

Guess I'll keep waiting :/

/

In a map there are not 70+ buildings, because they will substitute other buildings. Overall the buildings will be the same number related to the zoned areas, regardless of the theme.

Yeah, I gave a full report here https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...ash-error-reports.846063/page-3#post-19114421

I also upgraded from 4 gigs to 8 gigs later on, haven't seen if the crashes persist with more memory, no mods installed, my computer is way above the minimum requeriments. :)

Please fix it, I should be angry, after all I've bought the game and I can't play it long enough as I lose my advance due to the saving crashes, but it's such a great game that I can't. xD

Let me enjoy it.
