Hello

I have just downloaded the latest patch for Cities: Skylines (via steam). Since the patch I am unable to load my saved city.

I constantly get an error message: Object reference not set to an instance of an object [System.NullReferenceException]

The full error is:

Object reference not set to an instance of an object [System.NullReferenceException]

Details:
No details

I see this error has popped up in the past but only when users were disabling assets and mods that were used in their city. I have a number of mods and assets installed but haven't changed anything in terms of activated or de-activated.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

I have win 7 64Bbit

Intel Corei7 3.2GHz
16GB DD3 Ram
GTX680 2GB

I bought this game the day it came out and haven't had any problem with Cities Skylines so far.

Many thanks

stefan

Almost certainly you are using a mod that hasn't been updated for the 1.1.1 patch.

Please try a clean reinstall:

- Remove the game from Steam (delete local content)
- Manually delete all these files and folders, if still there:
...\Steam\steamapps\common\Cities_Skylines\
...\Steam\userdata\<SteamID>\255710\
...\Users\<UserName>\Documents\Colossal Order\Cities_Skylines

...\AppData\Local\Colossal Order\Cities_Skylines
(first move the /saves/ folder elsewhere to keep your save games)

- In the Steam Workshop, un-subscribe from ALL mods and assets
- Install the game again, but BEFORE running for the first time, in Steam right-click on this game and choose Properties. Click on Set launch Options, and paste this in there: -force-d3d9
- Now run the game up and start a new city.
- If all goes OK, move the save games back and try again.
- If still OK, you can start subscribing to mods and assets again. But test the game after every few, to make sure a bad one has not come down again.

Hello

Many thanks for the quick reply. I have un-ticked all the assets and still get the error, then I started a new city and it seems to work. I guess the problem will re-appear as soon as I will place the faulty asset again? If so I could just remove that single one and use an earlier safe-state.

In any case, I will see if I can narrow it down further.

Thanks
