Good Morning,

With the release of Leviathan and 1.31.1 there are a few reccomendations I’d like to put forward regarding bugs and betas.
  1. Revert the main game back to 1.30.6 until stability has been achieved post 1.31. The are several reasons for this but for me the most important are the existence of the no tags/save game bug and the crash that keeps occurring near the 1500 date. The mere possibility of running into these bugs again is deterring me (and I’m sure others feel the same way) from even starting a new game, only to have all progress lost with no possibility of recovery.
Beyond affecting players, it is also hurting streamers who rely on the game stability as part of their careers and provide a lot of free advertising (I’m not a streamer FYI). The game has too much potential to lose its player base to these issues.
  2. Add an option to test latest patches/dlc in Betas on steam, with disclaimers that there is a possibility all progress could be lost in patch 1.31.1. I know this suggestion for betas has been put forward before but it needs to be highlighted once again. Purely from the number of DLC for the game(17 now with Leviathan), you have too many scenarios in which dlc can interact and affect new patches. I don’t know how big the Paradox QA/QC team is but I doubt it’s big enough to deal that many possible dlc combinations/permutations and bug hunt effectively.
By allowing betas to all players you can let them help you hunt down more bugs prior to a DLC release and cover more of the possible DLC combinations. DLC’s should also be available for pre-purchase to access and test beta content (that way you can have a person test, for example, majapahit patch + leviathan dlc and another test just the majapahit patch without leviathan). However I’ll admit I don’t know enough about Steam to understand if something like this is possible.
In future betas/dlc’s you could also potentially do DLC giveaways to beta testers as a way of thanking the community (if not with EU4, then definitely with other paradox games).

I love EU4 and want the game to be as fun and functional as possible. Despite the current community outrage I’m sure I’m not alone in wanting to help get the game to the best possible state.
