Hi,
New to HOI4 but I have over 800 hours clocked on HOI3 so not a complete newb but I have a question on Construction & Production Targets. My question in a nutshell is by what time should various (more details below) Construction & Production projects be achieved in game time. I.e. Extend the Maginot line by 1940 or upgrade to lvl 3 Carriers by 1942, complete X number of Marine Divisions by 1942 etc.
My current game (& first ) is as the USA but I'm likely to try other nations later so feel free to offer advice for any that you have experience with as others might find this helpful as well as myself.
Ok so I understand that every play-through is different & play style & personal preferences may colour many opinions & not everybody is going to agree with each other but I'm just trying to get a baseline to which I can use to help me plan ahead & give me an idea on whether I'm ahead in certain areas & where I may need put more effort. I'm guessing that anything after 1942 is probably not as relevant to this post as by that time you probably have a good handle on whats needed as you'll already have production lines sorted & most of the changes you'll make will be in reaction to the current situation & based on your earlier decisions.
What I'm looking for are very general numbers on what is under-prepared, prepared, over-prepared & an approximate date(s) to meet these guidelines for the following;
How many factory's including shipyards to build & what percentage Civilian/Military/Ship Yard.
Important research technology's, only need the really important ones here that pretty much everyone needs with emphasis on USA.
How many divisions required for different theaters. For the USA I guess you'd have three main theaters Pacific, Desert/Italy & France/Europe.
Number & type of aircraft
Number of Fleets & mix, I'm aiming for 4 carrier fleets with 4CV's 8 BB/CA's 12 CL's 24 DD's by late 1941 early 1942 but I'd still like to hear people's opinions on this plus ideal number of convoys, DD's to escort transport convoys & subs. I'm going with 12 DD's for escort duty, 9CL's 18 DD's for sub hunting & wolf packs of 10-15 subs. Also whats the best use of naval experience.
Construction Projects, what to build & to what level? I've already mentioned factories but Coastal forts, Infrastructure, Naval Bases & Air Bases. Whats important? Should I build coastal forts in Guam & Wake Island? What Naval bases need improving, Air bases? & what about infrastructure?
Anything else important that I've missed?
Don't feel you need to answer all my questions & be as in-depth or concise as you like but I'd like some ballpark figures to work with. No need to list everything just what you think is important the rest I can probably figure out for myself, any help will be appreciated.
