Well since I learnt the console was apparently hardcoded in EUIII and couldn't be disabled, could there please include an option to disable it in EUIV for people who can't resist the temptation?

Or people could just learn to resist the temptation. It's not that hard. I did used consoles but mostly to amuse myself with spawning rebels in other AI countries and watch how they deal with them, sometimes causing them to collapse (hehehe). ;)

I never used a console in EU3. I just edit saves :D

Seriously, if you want to cheat in this game and can't resist it, you will cheat. If they disable the console, next time you will request save game encryption! (I hate when games have encrypted saves - I mod most of my games with "Fall of the Gods" scenario - one, very powerful civilization locked to a single planet/city/something vs universe full of other races. Can they unite and defeat the "Gods" or will they be wiped out one by one? )

The lack of self control some people have is disturbing. Not cheating shouldn't require a work-around. Of course, then it comes down to that you're not forced to disable it, so you need a version that doesn't have it all. Seriously, learn to control your urges. It will help you in far more areas than gaming.

I have no problem controlling my urges when it comes to more important matters than gaming...

I'm just suggesting that an option be included for those who want it, most games disable it by default and have an option to enable for those who want it. It's really not a big ask programming wise and I don't understand why I'm being criticized for it.

Try taking out the ~ key on your keyboard, see if that helps

Somebody already suggested that! (was it you?)

Not ideal since there is a button underneath the key anyway. :p

I still don't get why people are trying to argue with me in a suggestion thread, but ok then!

No I never suggested that before, but I am just kidding anyway.Actually I think there would be no harm if the game had the option of disabling the console.

Pointless for you doesn't mean pointless for everyone!

Not everyone can find the time to both play a time consuming (yet awesome) game series and break a tough habit. :(

I don't see how not clicking the "enable the console" in options makes it harder not to cheat.

Bar adding about three more clicks.

If you had to save and exit to menu to change it would be far less accessible, but what I would like to see is a game setup option such as in Civ or Total War games that lock/unlocks it for that specific save file.

The console isn't primarily meant for cheating, but for debugging the game. It's very useful for testing for potential bugs and also to help create mods.

I totally agree which is why I don't want it removed completely! :)

Of course the debug nature of it is part of the reason it is so easy to access in it's current form, it's hard to catch yourself typing "stability" in time after a comet sighting. :p
